@nsdq3 - Sorry I just read your question again. You should use a fuse, but not between the relay and the light bar, but rather between your power source (+12V) and the 30A relay.

You will use four terminals on your new 30A relay. Two of them are the "trigger" side of the relay and two are the "accessory power" side. The upfitter switch will send +12V (small wire - low current) to one of the trigger terminals on the relay; the other trigger terminal will be grounded. Once this happens (when you turn on the upfitter switch), the relay will close and pass power through the other two accessory power terminals (larger wire - higher current) on the relay. One of the accessory power terminals will be connected to a good +12V source (i.e. positive battery post) with a fuse between the +12V source and relay and the other accessory power terminal will be connected to the positive lead on the light bar.

Sorry for the confusion... I originally just answered yes to the necessity of a fuse, but didn't see where you had mentioned using it.

PS - Use a 25A fuse for that 30" VisionX light bar.

makes perfect sense, thank you very much. I love this forum!

Oh, and guys waiting for the bumper. Don't get home for another couple of weeks, so it might be a while for the pics! Jeff said they should have something similar done this week. Maybe he will post a pic of the modified bumper, before they build mine.

I'm very interested to see this bumper. I'm personally torn between the clean look of the SVC bumper and the SDHQ Raptor R bumper. I like the clean look of the SVC bumper with it's tight radius, but also like the distance from the vehicle that the SDHQ bumper provides with it's light hoop for additional lights on top the bumper. It sounds like what you're having made may be a perfect compromise and SVC definitely makes a nice product! Anxious to see it... please post pics when you have them.

I was hoping Jeff would hop in here.

On a side note, what a great company to deal with (SVC)! It amazes me how many vendors in both this industry and others, act like they are doing you a favor by selling you their product and are reluctant to allow for any customization.

I contacted a few different MFRs of bumpers with different ideas and either got "we can't" or "we won't", SVC reply to all "no problem".

I have also been working with Jeff on a custom bumper adding a front hoop welded to the front of the bar mounting a Baja design onyx6 radius 30 inch in the front opening of the bumper. Mounting 4 6 inch HID lights from Baja Design also 2 spot in the middle and 2 driving on the sides. Jeff from SVC and Mike from Baja design have been awesome help and great to talk to can't wait to see the bumper finish and mounted
