Hi all. I am in the market to swap my 4Runner for a Raptor. Need the towing power at altitude in Colorado...

Can anyone confirm if a 7.0L V8 is happening?

If it is I am going to wait to 2020. If not I’m going to move early.

The internet is full of yes it’s happening and no it’ll never happen.

Can anyone confirm 100% yes it is or no it isn’t?

Thank you

Ford is never going back to a v8 for the raptor a hybrid or full electric is more likely. The 2nd gen raptor will continue with minor updates throughout its life cycle and eventually a special edition towards the end 2022+ depending on how long they continue Production. 3rd generation will most likely be around 2025....

Yeah highly doubt it’ll ever happen especially considering how well the raptor has sold. Had they sat on the lot for months then maybe ford would make an effort to put a v8 back in.

Cars.com shows 4100 gen 2's for sale in US that is 266 million dollars in inventory sitting. Only 850 Gen 1's. I know two , gen2 been sitting at local dealership for months now. I see Raptors in Ford commercials recently , they never did that before , have to advertise their flagship halo truck.

No one knows because Ford will not confirm or deny. Any answer is speculation.

I don’t think they are, but it would not surprise me if they did. I bought a 14 in April last year with 30k with the intention of buying a 19 if they offered a V8 or not, which is exactly what I did. The rumors of a V8 were much larger last year. My 19 should be delivered in a week or two.

I don’t really care about V8 or V6, but I do care about having the most HP and bigger engine. If the 20’s have a V8, I will trade mine in.

If the V8 is important to you, but a 14 with low miles, put some upgrades in it and have fun for a year and then see if the 20s have a V8 and make a decision. I did not put any upgrades in my 14 and was still a blast off-road. I love my 14 and am happy I bought it, but I like technology, comfort, and new things so I am looking forward to the 19.

No one can confirm until there's confirmation. There were a lot of rumors at the beginning of the year that a 2019 or mid 2019 model would have that as an option, those rumors have died down almost completely at this stage and I haven't read/seen any new ones pop up about a potential V8 for 2020. Most of what you read these days regarding the 7.0 V8 are largely jokes.

Since Ford is moving forward with making the raptor name a "package", it seems reasonable to assume that the buyer can spec the base vehicle package they want. With that said, the buyer can opt for a V6 or a V8.
