Since Ford is moving forward with making the raptor name a "package", it seems reasonable to assume that the buyer can spec the base vehicle package they want. With that said, the buyer can opt for a V6 or a V8.

You know nothing. The Raptor is not going to be a package. Stop posting horseshit.

Funny to see people so confident in their predictions. Here are the facts:

A left hand version of the Ranger Raptor has been seen testing in the States. Could be just for the left hand overseas markets, but it has only been confirmed that it won't be coming for 2019. Considering the F150 Raptor always lags behind a few years after the refresh, I would guess we'd see it at earliest 2020, more likely 2021.

Right. We know the "raptor" nameplate is being applied across multiple platforms. It also allows Ford flexibility, and appeal to more buyers.

Well, since "we know" this, please provide proof of Raptor rebadging in the US. The Australian diesel version doesn't count.

I’m not trying to fan fires but why would they rush a gen3? The gen2 is on its third year. Maybe it’s my Toyota history but shouldn’t gen lifelines be longer than 4 years?

The first Gen went from 2010 - 2014. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same for the Gen 2 and leave it for a couple years again before announcing the Gen 3. By then dodge will have the TRX out and I'm sure Ford will have an answer to it with their Gen 3 Raptor. Like others said I cant see it being a V8, I mean its possible but I wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful EcoBoost.

I think putting the Raptor engine in the F-150 Limited is pretty telling. Eventually, they'll kill the 5.0 and have only Ecoboost engines in everything but the big trucks.

In 2017 25% of F150s came with the V8. There is a very measurable portion of buyers that will only buy a full size truck with a V8, actual performance be damned. Ford knows this so I wouldn't be so sure about the death of V8 in the F150. I could see it being removed as an option for the lower tier trucks though.

25% V8s doesn’t mean they’ll only buy V8s.

They were two independent statements...not meant to imply the 25% will only buy V8s. It does mean a good amount of them knowingly chose the V8 over the V6 though. How many of them would not buy an F150 at all if the V8 option disappeared? Who knows, but I'm sure Ford has run the numbers on it.
