That design is dimpled, but we were changing it to control the cost. I would have to find out exactly what the difference was, but it was was BIG. Partly because we don't have the proper tooling for that job.

Not having dimples is ok. I (we) can always create our own by using this tool:
(as long as the material isn't too thick) or (maybe just a bigger hammer!!)

I think a dimpled surface is important. When you stomp on something, you don't want to slip. Dimpled or grooved.

I paid a lot for my other pedals, so I'm willing to pay what the dimpled pedal cost. They were anodized and counter-sunk, with a great non-slick surface.

A surface with good grip would be very important to me. Dimpled or not if it works I would buy it. Personally don't mind paying for quality within reason that is.

I like the steel prototype, but I do think that the dimples will help. Although, with the right coatings, that would improve grip a little.
