The 35x12.5r17 is the exact same size as the stock raptor tires, which is why they don't have the 315/70r17 anymore
How is it that in post 35, the factory rep failed to point out that although they do not offer the 315/70r17, they do offer the exact same sized tire, that being the 35x12.5r17? Maybe because they are not the exact same size?
I did check the BFGoodrich website and I was able to find the 35x12.5r17
I called BFGoodrich customer service and they confirmed that the two were just about about same size. Just wondering why they changed the naming convention to the 35x12.5r17 but I guess it is slightly different than the 315/70r17
A quick check of the metric conversion tables showed that 315 mm = 12.4016 inches.
Should have just call my dealership and asked them about this.
I guess I could also measure the height of my OEM tires and see how close they are to the 35 inch height on the 35/12.5r17 Any difference would mean the aspect ratio would be different than the 70mm on the 315/70r17
But since my metric conversion chart works for 70mm, showing this to be 2.75591 inches, then applying some third grade math means that the 315/70r17's are 22.51 inches tall (2.75591 inches + 2.75591 inches +17 inches). Looks like I need to measure my tires with a yardstick and report directly back to third grade math......
Wait, that 70 is NOT mm, but the headwall height percentage. So 70% of 315mm = 8.68 inches. So now this works out to 34.36 inches (8.68 inches + 8.68 inches + 17 inches).
Not sure if the extra .64 of an inch in height will work on a Raptor, (34.36 inches tall OEM vs. 35 inches). At this point I am not sure of anything, except I am going to look silly in third grade math
