Does it work when there's no cell signal?

Can you save trips? Will it navigate to GPS coordinates you enter?

GPS Kit looks great! (thanks)

My only question about GPS Kit and MotionX (or any GPS software) is will it work when there's no cell signal?

Here's what I can find:

You need an Internet connection (3G/LTE/4G) if you want to stream the map. You don't need an Internet connection (3G/LTE/4G) if you download the map.

Regardless, to navigate with GPS you do not need a data plan (3G/LTE/4G), unless you want real time traffic, weather, etc. information as you navigate. You can still get turn-by-turn GPS navigation without (3G/LTE/4G).

You MUST have an iPad with WiFi + 3G in order to have the A-GPS chip. The WiFi only version do not have the chip!

I purposely DID NOT upgrade my MotionX GPS app to the latest version. The new update uses Apple Maps and does not allow you to download maps. My version uses MotionX, Bing, or Google Maps and I can download any map.

Oh, as GPS kit allows you to add any map type you want, as long as you have the source link info.

Out of the box it's got 11 map types.
