Okay . . . I should only drive vehicles. I should NOT work on them. With that admission out of the way . . .

I just opened my new Lowrance HDS 7m gen 2 touch and my Outlaw GPS mount.

I am a bit confused. Which bolts do I use to mount the Lowrance to the mount. The holes in the mount line up with large holes in the back of the unit but the holes in the mount plate are really small. Which bolts / screws do i use to hold the mount onto the dash? Seems to be too many bolts / screws so i don't want to use the wrong ones.

Thanks!!!

Bill

The bolts for the flush mount should be in the box with the Lowrance. Mine came with a template for the flush mount which wasn't needed because I bought the LGE CTS motorsports foldable mount with predrilled holes and the flush mount hole. I don't have a picture of the screws but they are in a small plastic bag with wing nuts to secure the GPS.

Attaching to the dash - the mount from LGE CTS came with longer bolts for the front of the dash tray and required two holes to be drilled for the mount tabs that are closer to you

I ran into the same thing as you. I have the exact same set up. It was kind of a cluster at first because you just have a bunch of screws and bolts with no help as to which goes where. I ended up using the long screws to go from the mount into the four holes on the back of the gps and it has worked perfectly so far. The bolts are to assemble the mount to itself and then the other two screws I used for the two "feet" of the mount that are closest to the back of the truck. Idk if this was how it was intended, but it worked and nothing seems like its going to fall off.
My only complaints so far with this mount is that it needs another support from the little tray above the radio to the bottom of the gps because there not being one allows the gps to sort of "wiggle" up and down slightly when hitting some pretty good bumps. And that the extra weight on that tray causes it to wiggle just a hair and it is an audible movement. I think this can be fixed with putting some weather stripping or something else squishy under the lip of the tray where it sits on the dash. I think it is good overall, but can be improved with a little diy.

Yes it will be wired to the cigarette lighter.

I found out today that some of the new HDS 7M gen 2 touch units do not have threaded holes on the back for mounting the unit. Unfortunately mine is one of these.

A local shop, Dirt Freeks, is working on it tonight and said they will have it mounted solidly for me by tomorrow. Once I see how they solved it I will let you guys know in case anyone else gets a 7m touch with the same issue.

Thanks!

The solution was to implant threaded inserts into the existing holes and then bolt it to the Outlaw mount in the standard way.

Excellent job by Dirt Freeks of Las Vegas in accomplishing this for me!

Thanks!
