It looks like my local dealer backed my system back to the 3.6.2 version. The ford sync site thinks the truck is at 3.7. I have an appointment with another dealer today so I was going to re-install 3.7 so they could fix the screen the correct way, but it will not allow me to to apply the update. The truck also thinks the upgrade has been applied so it will not update to 3.7. It clearly states that it has 3.6.2 installed. I even downloaded a new file and put it on a clean USB stick. You kind of have to trick the support site to let you download the file again because it thinks I have already applied the update.

So now basically, things are screwed. I'm going to go ahead and go to the dealer today and see if they can update to the 3.7, but from what others say, they will not do that. So I am probably stuck with 3.6.2 for a while.

Maybe it's just me, but the 3.7 version seemed to be much snappier.

Look at the CCPU version. If it says 14122 then you have version 3.7. Don't be fooled by the Navigation version below that says 3.62.5

Hacked the files on the thumb drive and got the Raptor logo back

I'll try to go through this step-by-step, but be warned that you're going to need to edit a file (the autoinstall.lst file) *and* include a few Raptor files to get this to work. I tried to include these files as attachments, but the site won't let me. I'll dump them on a public drive if there is demand.

Step 1) Back up all of your files. I was not able to get the Ford site to allow me to download another upgrade (they said my Ford Touch/Sync was current, and I didn't need the upgrade).

Step 2) Open up the autoinstall.lst file with an editor (on Windows, I used Notepad.exe).

Step 3) The autoinstall.lst file should have several blocks of instructions. I had the following lines leading off the file:

;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
; Microsoft Windows Automotive
; USB Installation Directive File
; 3.6 (13171) Update from:
; 10308,10337,11038,11063,11081,11134
; 12023,12047,12058,12156,12285
; Other versions not supported
; autoinstall.lst (NA)
;
;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

.....

Note that I had already installed the 4.30.13171 update (as most of us have, thus the position we're in with missing the Raptor logo) so I had to add a block header to include this update. My file now starts off like this (note the addition of the line [SYNCGen2_4.30.13171_PRODUCT]):

;+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
; Microsoft Windows Automotive
; USB Installation Directive File

Item8 = DA5T-14D546-AEB
Open8 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-AEB.cab
Options = AutoInstall

Step 4) Further down the file, there is another block that can be edited. I had this in the file:

;;;
;;; The following are the Target image files
;;;
[SYNCGen2_4.30.13171_PRODUCT]
Item1 = DA5T-14D546-AFB
Open1 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-AFB.cab
Item2 = DA5T-14F496-MC
Open2 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14F496-MC.zip
Item3 = DA5T-14F657-AN

Open4 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14F497-AL.zip

Open5 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-BD.zip
Item6 = DA5T-14D546-DD
Open6 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-DD.zip
Item7 = DA5T-14D546-AJB
Open7 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-AJB.cab
Item8 = DA5T-14D546-AGB
Open8 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-AGB.cab
Item9 = BT4T-14D546-EE
Open9 = SyncMyRide\BT4T-14D546-EE.cab
Item10 = DA5T-14D546-LF
Open10 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-LF.cab
Options = AutoInstall

I deleted these lines and added the following (this is the only instruction we're trying to install into the system). Note that we're "faking" out the system by creating a new product (4.30.13172):

;;;
;;; The following are the Target image files
;;;
[SYNCGen2_4.30.13172_PRODUCT]
Item1 = DA5T-14F496-MC
Open1 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14F496-MC.zip
Options = AutoInstall

Step 5) For good measure (I'm not sure if this step is necessary), I also edited the "All" block and changed it to include the zip file that has the images of the raptor logo. From this:

;;;
;;; The following tag is for any other software NOT supported by this update
;;;
[SYNCGen2_All]
Item1 = BT4T-14D546-EE
Open1 = SyncMyRide\BT4T-14D546-EE.cab
Item2 = DA5T-14D546-NE
Open2 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-NE.cab
Options = AutoInstall

to this:

;;;
;;; The following tag is for any other software NOT supported by this update
;;;
[SYNCGen2_All]
Item1 = BT4T-14D546-EE
Open1 = SyncMyRide\BT4T-14D546-EE.cab
Item2 = DA5T-14D546-NE
Open2 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14D546-NE.cab
Item3 = DA5T-14F496-MC
Open3 = SyncMyRide\DA5T-14F496-MC.zip
Options = AutoInstall

Step 6) Save the Autoinstall.lst file.

Step 7) Make sure you have the DA5T-14F496-MC zip file (attached to this post) hung off your "SyncMyRide" hive. So, on your thumb drive, you should have SyncMyRide/DA5T-14F496-MC.zip (as well as all of the other files that came with the installation).

Step 8) Stick the thumb drive into the USB slot. Note that I got an error after the install that the installation wasn't complete, but the file got transferred properly and all seems to work OK.

Good luck, and let me know if you have a driver's side mirror for a 2014 Raptor... I cracked mine and new is $1000+.

So did you do the update and then do this or did you start fresh with these changes on your raptor?

My new 2013 was pretty early in the run and had the ford splash screen. About 6 months later it was fixed in a update to have the raptor splash screen. So just hang tight 2014 guys, ford will fix it in the update soon.

That maybe true, but I have a 14 and it had the raptor splash screen. I do this "update" and it's now the ford splash screen that we are talking about.
