My 37 got smoked by a Hyundai SUV (question)

Never quite understood guys with giant trucks that think they are somehow fast. I can tell they've never really had any exposure to actual fast cars. In other words, a guy that owns a 911 Turbo along with his Raptor would never generate this thread.

So there's "one" that ran 12.5 on E50 and you then generalize Raptors as 12.5-13s 6000 pound trucks. Okay. Raptors are not fast. Not stock, not tuned, not at all.

I believe the Record is 12.2 at 109 in a tuned Raptor on E50 and there are a bunch of us that like going fast on and off road.

So my question to you is what would you consider fast from a truck? Do you even have a Raptor?

There is no such thing as 'fast from a truck'. There is 'fast' and there is 'not fast'. Raptors are not fast, at least in my world. I currently do not have a Raptor but have spent plenty of time in them. Had a Gen1, never had a Gen2 and not really interested in the Gen3 at this point. Currently have a TRX as far as trucks go. For the record, NOT a TRX fanboy. The truck is okay but there are a lot of things that could've been done better.

A couple weeks ago, while entering the highway, a younger dude in a little hyundai SUV tried to overtake me and my 37 on the entrance ramp to I-70. I floored it (in sport mode) and he flipped me the bird as he easily overtook me (I guess I had that coming LOL).

Then this week I dropped off my truck for a warranty engine knock sensor replacement. They said it was a bad factory part, that the engine was fine. They gave me a loaner--a Ford F-150 XLT with the same 3.5L ecoboost engine. This loaner has 31 inch tires. I noticed that it is REMARAKBLY faster in acceleration than my 37. This loaner would smoke my 37 in a drag race. I am sure some of this has to do with tire size, but am concerned that there may be other issues.

Any comments? For you others who have a 37, what's your experience with acceleration?

These trucks just aren’t fast, they need help. They should be able to outrun most shyt boxes on the road.

My intercooler just showed up and I’ve told the Goose I’m ready when he is.

If the knock sensor was not working, the truck was probably running in almost limp mode, I would think, so it wouldn't damage itself. Go google knock sensor in a twin turbo motor for more info.

Now that it's repaired, put a couple tanks of premium through it, if you've been running regular. It'll make all the difference.

You also have to remember your loaner has 400hp/500lb./ft., not 450/510, so there is even more of a difference. What gas are you running?

Not true. The Raptor could and should be fast for a truck. The OP wasn’t trying to stay ahead of a 911. It was a Hyundai SUV which should have been more than doable. IMO the if the Gen3 had another 50hp it would be perfect. I understand the Raptor R is on its way but that’s overkill for me and if I wanted to be stupid I’d just buy a TRX.

A Raptor is slow compared to what? The only faster truck is a TRX.

Could be the knock sensor and or using regular gas as already stated. If you're not using premium, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Be advised current 93 octane prices are higher than Hunter Biden
