Coming off the highway into the City I was around 125-129 for IAT2 and engine was around 208.

I did a few 0-60 runs and the engine never went over 216 and IAT2 dropped to 110-114 range. I very happy with the intercooler i think its doing a nice job with these temps.

That's a significant difference. IAT2 obviously also directly affects the engine temps since I was seeing 226 with ambient temps 15-20 degrees cooler than what you were running in.

I prefer to keep the the IC in the stock location. Can anyone chime in that's running one of the IC's that use the stock mount?

I think the Wagner IC is the only one that mounts in the factory location...

I will make the time to come down and see you darin and show you the wagner. I'm looking to to do the double honk removal, secure idle, reverse tilt mirrors, eng and trans temps, heated and cooled seats seats and steering wheel on home screen and maybe the fake engine noise disable. Been busy and forgot to get back to you the other day. I got to get my tunes on just keep dragging my feet.

+1 for the Wagner. Working great. I had the front apart to install a behind the grill light bar a few days ago and could see Very Very minor spot where the active shudders had touched the intercooler. Some easy trimming took care of it. I would go Wagner again unless a had a frame cut bumper and had to go front mount. The puller fans still work which is good for low speed stuff...

Mishimoto as well...

Correct. I looked at that once because CJ Pony parts had an install video. My concern is that they advertise an average of a 10 degree reduction over factory temps. That doesn't sound like much. So I'm not sure it's worth $900 for 10 degrees.

OK sounds good. Just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure I'm available and I can refresh my memory on how to change the settings with Forscan.

I do like the idea of keeping the puller fans.

Personally I don’t think the oem ic is as bad as you read on this forum. My experience in 13k+ miles says it works just fine on stock turbos. In fact, if you want a mishimoto I’ll sell you mine (new) for a great price. Pm if interested.

Did you not install it or have it on and take it off for a particular reason?

If temps are accurate that people have posted here some of the aftermarket coolers are making 20 degree improvements over stock. If that is in deed accurate I'd think that's enough to make a difference.

I haven't installed it. It's sitting on the shelf in my garage. I posted a photo earlier, but here it is again. It's the one on the right, the left one is for my FocusRS, but it is waiting for the big turbo (seen in photo on shelf under the Raptor FMIC) install. It isn't needed until big turbo...

As for the temps posted, I won't deny that they are seen by those posters because I've seen similar temps as well, depending on the current conditions. That's why I still say an intercooler upgrade isn't needed to maintain performance if you have stock turbos. If you're wanting to go bigger turbo or run the stock turbos above their efficiency range so that you get much higher than oem intake temps, then an upgraded intercooler is definitely recommended.

If the question is can the stock intercooler become heat soaked, the answer is yes, BUT so can an aftermarket FMIC. Will the aftermarket FMIC take longer to reach that max temp? I say yes it will, but if you're asking for max performance from the engine when the conditions have already heat soaked the FMIC, then you're not driving on the street, or you're just street-racing (drags or other slow-speed airflow limited events).

One of my previous ecoboost cars had the 1.6 and I had it cranked to 44 psi MAP, so the little turbo was puking it's guts out (I didn't care, I had a bigger turbo waiting for install), but the car pulled like a freight train. I definitely had an aftermarket FMIC in that car.

All said, I think that the stock intercooler is fine for anything less than 35 psi on absolute manifold pressure (MAP) which is roughly 20 psi boost. If I think something is necessary, I do it regardless. If not, I don't do it until needed.
