So I took my tune off for a few days to see how my mpgs would be affected and they went up by 3 mpgs. Has anyone else noticed that big of a drop running the MPT 93 tune or am I just getting on it that much?

What kind of drop off has everyone else been experiencing?

If you drive it like a squid on the street, the mileage will be bad (around 12) no matter the tune. That said, I’ve done 1/4 mile and top speed runs with mine along the way. I’ve been running the MPT 93 PR-X tune for 20,000+ miles now (current mileage is 24,695) and the average mpg since new is 15.8.

The tune itself does NOT reduce fuel mileage. It’s you and how you drive the vehicle.

Note that the original fuel useage calibration was about 1.2mpg higher than actual, so you need to do the calculations and update the multiplier in Engineering Mode.

My driving does not change with or without the tune. I have gone back and forth and tracked each closely. I definitely burn more fuel with the tune than without. Regardless what are you saying needs to be recalibrated?

The only way the tune affects your mileage vs no tune is if you drive like a goon anyway. If you’re constantly making boost then of course the tune will burn more fuel because it is making more power in the Power Demand (pseudo open loop) mode. The tune does NOT affect the fueling in closed loop which is where the engine runs when at light loads and boost.

The fuel useage measurement calculation has a calibration multiplier in the math. It is set to 1 (actual value displayed is 1000) so the calculated value is x 1 which is y x 1 =y. There is a procedure to get into the Engineering Mode on the instrument panel to access and adjust this multiplier so the mileage data displayed equals your actual mileage.

I don’t remember which thread it may be in, but you can search the forum for it.

If you don’t understand any of this then I recommend you just don’t concern yourself with any of it and just drive your truck.

Edit: You do have a Gen 2?

Why get a tune if you don’t intend to use it??

I track my mileage the old school way. I write it down and do the division. At least I now why the computer is always off. I just figured it was Ford trying to make their numbers look better. Oh wait it is....

Yes I have a gen 2

Ok, just making sure...

As for the tune, you asked specifically if the tune itself affected mileage= No

If you're concerned about mileage and drive with your foot in it all the time, then the question is irrelevant.
