OK, saw this over on the Gen1 forum, thought it would be interesting to start a similar one here. What mods have you done that weren't worth the time, money or trouble?

I really don't have any regrets over the few I've done (Lincoln mirrors, numbers over gauges, heated/cooled seats on home screen thru F'scan, rear sway bar, performance diff cover, Gorilla lugs, 170 Tstat), and maybe 1/2 others I just don't recall atm.

Let's hear yours!

1) disabling fake engine noise.
the difference is so subtle, it’s not really worth doing. It’s also not worth the effort to undo.
2) AWE 2FG. Again, not regretting it, but -if- I were commuting all the time with it, I’d reconsider. You gain about 10db in cabin, you need a couple more notches on the stereo. On the gas hard, in upper rpms it’s not bad but under the power curve it’s just louder.

I won’t undo either mod, but they’re the only ones close to “I wouldn’t do it again” for me. I know a bunch of guys tried all manner of exhaust systems for way more than the AWE, and the benefit of the AWE is it’s both simple to instal and you drop a solid 60 pounds of weight !

I always overthink this question. With decisions of whether or not to mod something, once the idea is planted in my head, it stays there till I actually pull the trigger and do it. So for the most part, I don't regret the mods I've done since if I didn't do them then, I would have done them later on. Really, it's a question of what mods have I removed and what would mods I would do again on a different truck?

Audio upgrades - No regrets at all, and would do it again on a different Gen 2. On a Gen 3 truck, not sure how necessary it will be.

PX6 screen - I don't know what to think about this. I am glad I did, and I eventually would have, but I don't think I'd do it again on a Gen 2, and definitely not a Gen 3. Oddly, I can see myself upgrading the unit eventually.

bumper pocket lights - I am glad I got them, but I don't think I'd put them on a different Gen 2. I don't really need them, and I'd rather do something different. Same on Gen 3. Nothing about them, just don't use them that much.

reverse lights - yes, glad I have them. Would do again on Gen 2 or 3.

CF steering wheel - Happy with this and love the wheel. My OEM wheel was damaged, so justified the cost. I would do it again, but it's further down the list.

bed cover - yes.

graphics - This really depends on what color truck I'm adding them to. They add color contrast to a black truck, but I don't know that I'd do it again when that contrast isn't there.

a bunch of cheap cosmetic mods - mixed bag.

I installed eibachs temporarily while svc waited on king shock delivery to go mid travel. The eibachs completely ruined the front suspension setup. I wouldn’t do those again. Was so happy to ditch those for the coilovers.

I got yellow lenses for the a pillar xl80s. I’d probably do clear next time. Yellow might help in the dust, but it makes everything look like a cheap sci-fi movie at night.

As someone who is thinking about doing Eibach's or Geiser's, what made you hate those?

It overstiffened the front end. The damping on the stock shocks was no match for that much spring. It lost the floaty feeling and completely sucked off-road. I didn’t bother resetting the live valves, that may have helped a bit.

Got a friend who totaled his first Raptor because of the Pedal Commander (he's the guy you hear about at Raptor Assault).

He was stopped a bar ditch on the Raptor Assault trails, talking, when he sneezed and tapped the pedal. Normally, wouldn't have been a big deal, but the PC was maxed out and the tiny tap on the throttle was translated to a full press. The truck swung around (his steering wheel was turned somwhat) and the back tire hit the ditch and rolled the truck.

Ford spent a bunch of effort calibrating the pedal response for the various modes, and they did really good. I got a competitor's kit for free for testing, and I didn't use it for more than a week.
