I have posted this several times so here we go again.

I laugh every time I see a thread that the members say just return it to stock and take it to the dealer..NOT TRUE.
I own a company who does performance tuning on GM and Ford vehicles. [performance autosport] The first thing we tell our customers is tuning will VOID your drive train Warranty. Even if the Vehicle is returned to stock the dealer tech can tell it has been flashed and will flag the car,If the dealer has any doughs there are several tests that can be done to see if the ECU has been altered.
People will also quote the Magnuson warranty act about the manufacture proving the damage but who has the time or money to fight them, plus it is clearly specified that a tune will void the warranty in the owners booklet.
IMO a tune is great for performance and if the warranty is not an issue than do it,but do not think you can get anything by the dealers these days ,the first time your truck is plugged in to the Ford laptop the first screen the tech sees is that the truck has been modded and when that laptop is updated by Ford all that info goes directly to there data base and your done.
Any major or minor repairs must be approved by the Ford warranty people and a rep will be sent out to look over the vehicle for any major repairs, the dealer is NOT the decision maker and if they fix it with out telling Ford first ,then the claim is denied.

All of my personal and shop vehicles are 100% stock with no ECU mods for that reason,if I wanted a fast vehicle I would not have bought a Raptor,I love my tuck but love the Warranty more.

very accurate for a tune. My son was a master technician for Ford and even back in his day they could identify a tune was or had been imbeded in the ECU program. It is a tough decision for every owner but if they want to "Make their truck their own" they just have to roll the dice. As long as everyone knows what they are getting into and only have themselves to blame than you can make an educated decision. Be it a simply cat back or an advanced tune.

i just got off the phone with my brother, He is a director of parts and service for a few ford dealers ships. My Raptor is on order and I wanted to ask him about engine tunes. He told me to wait until after warranty as FMC will check if ECM has ever been tuned. He would take care of me if it was minor but major repairs go to FMC rep. Kinda disappointed but I guess ill wait. CAI ,cat back, ok.....Anyone challenged FMC on this?

Bro, add a CAI, tune it and enjoy the hell out of your truck. You're going to wait 5 years for the power train warranty to run out?? The stock tune and shift logic is for absolute shiat. Couldn't imagine driving around like that. How many people on FRF have you heard of blowing their motor on a simple CAI tune?

I agree about the tune too...If a motor blows from a tune then it wasnt a tune problem.

How many times have you had warranty work or used the extended warranty. Ok.......that should tell you what your odds are of having that happen with modifications.

How does a ford tech know you had a cat-back at one time?

Personally used factory warranty maybe 2 or 3 times in the last 10 years across 7 or 8 vehicles. Only ever bought one extended warranty and never used. Certainly had a few things break in that time, one or two major but if you can wrench life is easier.

I hope this helps someone else because I decided to tune up and enjoy it how I want. But if you don't want to risk your warranty then there's lots of helpful professional advice out there for you to learn from.
