The 9.75 is a very good rear end, going to the 9" would be a downgrade in a bunch of ways. I don't know what currie rates their 9 at, but in stock form the 9.75 has an additional 1200lbs of carrying capacity, which translates to robustness when you jump your truck, hit hard bumps or just load up gear for a camping trip. Your beefing up a 9" to take what the stock rear end will.
I think its a better investment to get what you have worked over: Get a good, dedicated driveline shop to set your 9.75 up properly, have them check the rest of your driveline make sure your pinion angles are correct and there isn't other wear in the driveline that's causing problems. This is a failure that really shouldn't have happened. Invest in a trac bar to keep the pinion from moving around under load, this will take a bunch of stress off the bearings, truss if you feel the need. You are still going to be way ahead in cost.
