Might trade a 12 for a 13, any MFT thoughts?

My 2012 Focus has been to the dealer a half dozen times with MFT issues... hopefully it's not the same MFT touch system that goes in the F-150.

My car is literally outside right now, and when you start the screen goes black... doesn't respond, can't even change the freaking radio station. Goes in AGAIN Friday, for another slew of attempted updates/repairs. If that doesn't fix it, car is getting traded in.

Would be nice to know if it's the same system the truck has? Getting into my Raptor is a HUGE relief! The nav is so much more responsive, map is more detailed, and the touchscreen is flawless. The MFT is none of those things.

Same position:
Almost the same exact thing is happening with a company vehicle of ours. The dealership is giving us the same run around too, hoping the next update will be a fix. I later asked if MFT has the same software per vehicle. Dealer said, "MFT has the same update for ALL vehicles when updates are applicable so yes sir, sure will be the same for each vehicle, per year as I know of."

Then I wonder why some MFTs equipped cars are more prone to glitches then others if they all have the same software?

Well I don't work for Microsoft. I work for a healthcare company that makes automated med dispensing kiosks for hospital nursing stations, which run windows embedded. I wish I could tell you those things but I'd be lying. :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of electronics. ;-) A question that Apple® might be able to figure out, not me. LoL, same reason why some iPhones have troubles and others never have trouble...... I try my best to not rely on electronics, as soon as I heard MFT on '13s.... I opted for a '12. All personal preferences though. Some don't mind updates but I can't see myself having to do software upgrades on my vehicle I depend on daily. I know how pissed I get when my iPhone needs an update without the time to wait. So irritating and I can only imagine waiting on Ford.

I'm not too sure but I remember reading something about if you had to get your vehicle repaired under warranty 3 or 4 times and the dealer was unable to fix it, then you'd qualify for a lemon by back by the dealer? Maybe you could look into this?

Steve, I will say this, when sync works it is cool and the fact I can put in a new point in on my iPhone of course and it immediately is uploaded to sync is really useful and cool...the FONIX works good as well...so it is not all bad...just frustrating, when the hardware blames the software and vice versa... And the user is caught in the middle of ford v. Microsoft...

One more thing..I think part of the frustatiion with the sync is the techs are not computer tech or audio guys for that matter...

Thanks,

Fred

It is very difficult to pursue the lemon law. Most states require a time period. For example if a dealer can not fix an issue 4 times within a 6 month period. Then you have to get a lawyer. Yes it can be done but the dealer/oem is going to make you work for it.

If not, every individual who is not happy with their cars would cry lemon law and put dealers/oems out of business.
