I just had the oil changed and the tech told me the oil pan is leaking. When I dropped my truck off at Ford this week for a recall fix, they confirmed it was leaking and said the plastic pans are back-ordered, but it's a $1600 job when they get the pans in. My truck is out of warranty. If I am going to spend money, I thought I may as well buy the parts and do the metal oil pan conversion. I don't know if I can get Ford to do the install or will have to do myself, but I was looking at the parts and also the RMB post on Facebook. They claim their pans are custom "cast for them to their specs" and then they machine them. I can see the FoMoCo logo and part numbers cast onto the pan in the pic. Are they just BS'ing here or what? Is there any reason to spend $380 to buy the parts from RMB when I can get them from Tasca for under $200? Has anyone on the forum actually done this conversion themselves and detailed the process?
