Hi guys. I recently bought my dream truck 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor with 45k miles on it. Ford told me no recalls no problems. Still under warranty and Ive also added extended warranty until 105k miles.

Fast forward to August 26th and getting low oil pressure warning and blinking check engine light… my truck completely died on me…

Towed the truck to the dealership, they took the engine apart and send me few pictures… Cam phaser issue with bend cylinder head… dealership wants to replace timing chain, cam phasers and cylinder head on just one side… they also submitted for complete engine replacement.

I know that some of you have been in this situation.
How long did you guys wait for ford to give the answer on which repair they would do? How long did it take to get the engine?

Its a bummer… I was so happy to finally have my dream truck and it just turn into a nightmare.

Cam sprockets don’t just disintegrate. What is the maintenance history on the vehicle? If you’re looking for a any “dream” vehicle, the worst thing you can do is buy used.
Maintenance history looked perfect.
Yeah, I wish prices of new trucks were not up the roof right now and would love to have the truck from 0 miles.

Prices are high for sure. That kind of failure just not add up if the truck was properly maintained; that is catastrophic. Who provided the maintenance records?

Truck was always maintenained at the dealerships. Oil changes done regularly. I really didnt see anything that would be a red flag.

Dealership said no recalls on the vin number… few days after Ive picked up the truck I got this message.

Drove to dealership next day they’ve checked and confirm I would probably need a cam phaser replacement. Unfortunately my truck didnt make it

If it’s been 100% stealership maintained and it’s stock then you should have no trouble getting the truck repaired. This is seriously rare. Yeah, engine problems happen but as previously indicated some things don’t add up.

Good luck with the repair.
