I always take my wheels and tires to a shop that works on German sports cars. (Porsche, bmw, Audi …) because they have the best machines and they are super picky and careful when mounting wheels and tires.

New wheel!? What happened to the wheel? Looks fine to me…
Unfortunately I was on a bridge in the left lane when it happened, so I had to drive on the wheel for 300-400 yards before I could stop. The lip of the wheel is scuffed and scratched.
Dropped the wheel off this morning, confirmed the valve stem was not seated properly and was inside the tire. Tire is toast. Discount is replacing both the tire and wheel, only downside is the only tire they could find is in CA, as well as the wheel. It will be at least another week before they arrive. Hopefully the other ones don’t have an issue, I’m out of spares! Ha

Made it two miles after new wheels. Discount didn’t fully seat the valve stem.
How RUDE.

We're all human and people make mistakes. It's all about how the service provider handles the situation after.
Yeah this is true, but isn’t this something that should’ve been obvious to the installer? I have a hard time believing that the valve stem worked it’s way loose after a few rotations and just started spewing air. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that the installer probably heard or noticed it, hit it up with more air and sent the truck on its way to the parking lot.

I’ve seen some above average work at tire shops, I’ve also seen them impact drive 4 sets of lugs on at full power on multiple vehicles while I waited for a tire repair. YMMV

Did they reuse the valve stem or put in new ones?

That suck. Happened to me with a nail 150 miles after new rims and tires and the replacement was 4 months back ordered. Luckily it was before winter so that set was going to bed.

Just like any big business, the location is only as good as it’s employees. I have been using my discount tire since 2007 and they are rockstars. With having car which has 3 sets of wheels(summer/winter/track) suv with (summer/winter) and a raptor, I visit that location a bunch. Never as much as a scratch on the wheel or impact gun tightening my lugs.

On my 2014 I purchased new BFG at 2,000 miles and they destroyed all four wheels.

Had to buy me knew ones after multiple threats of taking them to court.

I'll never ever use DT again.
