That looks like magnesium or aluminum mixed with salt. I work on helicopters and that's exactly what magnesium does when salt water gets on it. So my money is on magnesium. Magnesium is very susceptible to salt. Corrodes very fast. I had to down one of our aircrafts main gear boxes because of salt water getting under one the the forward bridge mounts. That type of corrosion can be classified as galvanic (mentioned earlier) or pitting corrosion. Once it starts its hard to stop. You have to catch it early then clean, treat, and re-protect the metal.

Sorry guys,

But honestly you get what you pay for. A great friend of mine whom lives in Alberta Canada that I talked into buying a 2013 Raptor ordered the whole kit from M&R. I tried to talk him into buying Rigid but he bragged about the price he spent with M&R, after just 14 days on his truck they looked like Greg's, he took all of it off and the whole kit is in his Gararge and he has the Rigid's on for 5 weeks now and sees why they charge more for them

You do get what you paid for...
However quality is all relative to the buyer. Its basically just the simple equation of actual-expected. If you expect to get a light for $200 that will perform to the specs of a light that is $500, you might perceive the quality as poor.

This "poor quality" issue could be the way that M&R markets or sells their products. I would say that being the cheaper product they have to try oversell which, in this case, comes back to bite them.

Technically speaking that metal shouldn't be doing that. So maybe they are putting all the product cost into the actual LED and opting for a cheap housing. Maybe they should offer a more customized product. Both the cheap housing and led with the option of upgrading the housing.

It is all relative. I guess.

My point with this thread is to inform potential buyer and current owners of the issue. Not to bash an FRF vendor, vendor bashing only drives away vendors and customers. Just like other issues I have had with FRF vendors products all except one (recon, which is no longer a vendor) has stood behind their work/product (so far).

I have purchased a lot of Raptor products from FRF vendors and will continue rather than taking a chance anywhere else. With that said, I am hoping M&R continues the FRF vendor style customer service and resolves this issue..

By no way did i mean to condemn M&R products or service.. Just documenting the issue, hopefully to improve the product..

A lot of “you get what you pay for” comments… I didn’t buy these fogs because they were cheap, the set of 4 Rigid duallys were actually less than the $470 I spent. I liked their look and read the many reviews of members here. Also felt good using a forum vendor who was sponsoring our snoball event.

As for vendor Etiquette, I did send along pictures to them of my corroded setup prior to this thread starting. I expected to atleast get a reply that they would look into it, but have not heard back. To learn Greg and now others all have the same issue has led me to share my experience here

I agree with sitdown and no offense meant to Greg, but we always give vendors the opportunity to handle things in private before putting pictures up on here. You can't know for certain that your problem isn't a isolated incident and your scary picture could definitely scare people away. Even if you clarify later in the thread, etc...
We know now this isn't isolated, but lets give them an opportunity to chim in before we jump to conclusions.
