I wonder if it's just a ground, then it can be grounded anywhere and not necessarily inside the transfer case?
@FordService

When I put into 4l then back to 2wd it would rev by itself and go through the gears at a stand still. Really weird. Finally got it into 2wd and took iT home.

Definitely NOT a ground. Ford Service no longer monitors the forum. Find another dealership, or ask for the regional service manager.

Ok - ready for this? That is a power wire that when activated, it energizes an internal magnet inside the transfer case that helps it lock in quicker. That's the reason it took longer to shift into 2wd for you the other day.

Yea some trans guy at ford told me somewhat of the same thing. He said that triggers the electronic on the fly shift for the 4x4 system. Without that it won't work properly. Gonna have them fix it Tuesday. Thank y'all for all the help. Now I just need them to give me a loaner since my damn warranty has that covered. Hopefully they have any

Where did you find the info? Thank you Ruby!

I know some peoples that know some peoples. Honestly, I would have made the call sooner but I really thought the dealership would have figured it out.

Just an FYI - them telling you if it has been 'pulled' out, they won't cover it, is absolute BS. They can't tell you that and they damn sure can't prove it. That wire isn't snapped clean off.......

Escalate that issue of they mess with you. I think that is going to be a little pricey to fix.

One of the ex transmission guys said that the wire that came out "if he remembers correctly is soldered to a gear internally. He said it'll probably be anywhere in the range of $400-600 to repair.

Alright, so a little update, took my truck to ford this morning and it went right in. They are going to have to replace the motor itself inside the transfer case. I went into the shop to speak to the mechanic because they can't simply "take the t-case housing off and splice the wire back on the motor. It's all one piece. " good thing is, it's covered under warranty and I did get myself a loner! Thank God!
