Looking to buy a raptor

I happen to really like my 5.4. I am at 120k miles, bought it with 90k. The 2010 5.4 doesn't have issues. The spark plug thing was cured, I did my plugs no problems. The cam actuators, the other early 5.4 problem is supposed to be fixed as well for 2010, and mine isn't making any bad noises. The 5.4 is easily good for 300k miles. The best part is averaging 16-17 mpg, show me a 6.2 that is that affordable to daily drive. I don't think the power difference is all it is cracked up to be. Torque numbers are not that different but the 6.2 runs higher rpm to get peak numbers. Even at high altitude mine easily passes on two lanes and is a blast on dirt roads. Thinking it is somehow not worth considering is pretty funny after having owned one a while. The car I drove before this was a 500hp Porsche Cayenne turbo. This isn't fast like that but far from a disappointment.

I had a 2010 FX4 with the 5.4. I agree with the statement about reliability and mileage, but compared to my 6.2, it really doesn't have the grunt. It is adequate and for the right price, I'd consider getting one. But pricing being close and all other things equal, I'd opt for the 6.2.

The 5.4 sounded and went good, has E85 capability stock reducing power difference. The 6.2 was silent like a cop car but could still tell it was faster by speed to distance accel. I ended up selling 11 mpg 6.2 first(major suspension issues). Kept 14.5 mpg on gas 5.4, started running E85 and dropped to 10.5mpg. Looking at selling 5.4 and moving to next ride, a beater 2 door yukon cause I enjoy trails with trees and won't take a raptor through that.



Edit, mileage answer - 110,000 on 6.2 engine and 135,000 on 5.4 with nothing more than oil and filter type maintenance. Both smooth and trusted engines at that point still.

The 3.73 will have less grunt than the 4.10. Combined with the 6.2 extra power you would feel even bigger difference than mine.

You are also assuming the tire diameter is the same, which it wasn't. Probably not that much difference to negate the gears, but you're not exactly comparing apples to apples. No biggie. I like both motors, just prefer my 6.2.

Yeah I've been searching a lot but pretty much only find 2010s for around what I can get for my C6($25,000). I would obviously get the 6.2 if I find a steal but I don't see that happening for low $20s. I've been looking for a couple of months and have found some good looking 2010s and I would assume that since I'm in the Atlanta area, not many people are jumping them lol.

i bought my 2010 6.2 scab a couple months ago for $21k with 117k on the clock. a buddy of mine bought a similar one for a bit more with a bit less miles on it. they are out there, just have to be patient and diligent with your search

My 6.2L averages 16.5-17.0 all spring/summer/fall. Only dip is when we switch over to winter gas. Daily driven.

So your point is invalid.
