They can trick them into thinking they work. Trust me bud, it happens all the time in modern hp cars. From slowmaros, vettes, to mustangs, if it has a computer, shit can be turned off in the tune, but will not throw codes for an emissions read thru your pcm.

LOL man speaks the truth!

The problem with that is some states will check if the rear 02's are "ready". If they are off they are not "ready"

Most long tube headers will throw a code unless properly tuned for the headers. The only other way you can install headers, not tune, and not get a code would be Kooks new exclusive green cats.

yes ive seen those. the tune isnt the problem its when i need to go to stock to for my inspection. the rear o2's MUST be ON. shoot me a quote in a PM for a set of the green cats. i thought about making these work in place of the SW ones. kooks wants big bucks for them so if u are way less, ill consider it. otherwise ill take my chances come inspection/emission time.

Texas is NOT one of those states. On and OBD II vehicle, you are allowed one "not ready". I have had headers with high flow cats on my G8 for 3 years and have always had one "not ready" and it has not been an issue.

As far as other states, YMMV.

I got a solution for you, register that truck in Michigan. Lol. No but seriously, I'm saving up for it right now too so I want to make sure I don't get any lights for any reason at all. CELs irritate the shit out of me.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2011 Screw with SW and highflow cats. I throw p0171 and p0174, (too lean) on stock tune. Mike with 5 star gave me a special SMOG tune and I cannot for the life of me get the O2 Sens MON and O2 Sens HTR to come ready. I am on my 3rd try of repeating various drive cycles, and am not getting anywhere.
