Have you tried playing around with other fluids?
Might be worth try to use a different PS Fluid, all it costs is time and fluid.
Id start by adding some Lucas PS conditioner to the fluid you have. If that doesn't take out the noise, drain and fill with something else. Like RedLine or Amsoil.
Not sure why they say dont use Mercon.. But try it too...lol

When I first installed the system, the directions recommended Lee power steering fluid but did not specify that synthetic fluid and or atf as used in the stock system were specifically not to be used. Well, I used a AMSOIL synthetic atf. After I completed the original install and started having problems, this came up in my communication with Lee. I was kinda scolded for the fluid I used but they did replace the pump free of charge. I believe it’s since been added to the install directions.
