GEN 2 KO2 wet roads?

I have run BFGs since 2000 on my Z71. I have been running the KO2s since 2018 on my Raptor. Its the same in rain you hit the gas and serious spin.

You should try it after installing COBB Stage 2 (520 hp 590 ft-lb). I select 4A or switch to weather driving mode. I like the KO2's and will replace with the same (unless something comes out better, for my driving).

I like the KO2's. I bought the truck used, 32K on the clock. I'm assuming the set on it is original because of the 2018 date code. I'll probably change them in the next 5-8K miles. The traction in wet and snow is still pretty good. I'm using 4A in wet weather. The spare has never been down so when I buy a new set I'll probably buy 4 and put the spare in the rotation.

I bought the gen 2 when they came out in 17. I have 60k on the Raptor all in the Pacific Northwest (Portland). That means I have driven at least 365 days and 25,000 miles in the rain on KO2’s and Duratrac’s. There is simply no question that new, or well worn KO2’s are terrible on wet roads when compared to Duratrac. If you live in a wet place or need wet traction, replace the KO2’s.

I had KO,s originally on my gen 1, then replaced with KO2s twice, 1st set was C rated and 2nd set was D rated. C rated tires were ok to the end of life, D rated set had around 35k on them and it was scary on wet roads. I really like KO2s but once their worn replace ASAP.

I agree that K02s are not very good in the wet but I’ve found them acceptable if I keep them at 34psi.

My Wrangler JL has Falken WildPeak AT3W’s. That is one of the best all around off road tires IMO. I’ve never had a problem in rain or snow. The K02s are really good in snow IMO but the Falkens are even better. However, of course, the Wrangler is a much shorter wheelbase and has A LOT let power than a Raptor. I’m unsure of how much of an impact that will have with Falkens.

At this point, I’m happy enough with the K02s that I’m keeping them until they’re worn and then I’ll upgrade to the Falken AT or MTs.

I've had good luck with the K02's and I'm glad Ford puts these on from the factory. I've owned probably 10 sets now and ran them on my last 2 trucks as well. We run the BFG stickies on our Jeeps and I still think those are the best rockcrawling tires available. I'd definitely prefer the BFG over the goodyear tire they are putting on the TRX. I agree the KO2's performance in snow and rain isn't the best. I think they perform pretty well in those conditions for an AT tire that performs so well off-road though. They will wear out quickly if not rotated often though. I do tow occasionally so I plan to switch to the E-load rated version when the original tires wear out.
