Can anyone explain the deal with the steering wheel coming loose?

I remember 80-90s trucks steering column bushings wearing out, generally from people using them for a handle to get in a truck. I don't really remember the actual steering wheel coming loose, maybe I have forgotten.

Does the Raptor wheel have a keyway so that the wheel only goes on in only one position on the shaft? Did the wheel come loose because the guy made an ill-conceived move to recenter the wheel after the lift, and not get it properly re-mounted?

If he did manage to get the steering wheel on in a different spline position, does the truck computer now think the truck is actually turning slightly left or right while going straight? If so, hitting a rock at 70 kicking the front tires to the right, would the computer make an over correction thinking it's going too far to the right?

Ok so to summarize do we all agree that when and if, we take our very expensive watches apart and add in new and exciting parts or gears or just replace the factory parts with something cooler. We are not going to send it back to Rolex and expect them to replace it or buy it back because it’s not keeping time like it was when it was new (and not modified)???????

Nah. Rolex should figure out why aftermarket gears are causing the issues.

To Ford’s credit, I can’t even get my 2019 Batman or Hulk serviced as “warranty” $1000 each for movement correction.

Yes well done Zombie.

I really notice this death grip style riding my high horsepower quads . Don't realize till my arms are tired and I'm already beat up . Then think to relax up a bit.

I find that even though I look like a weirdo putting driving gloves on when I get in my truck, wearing gloves really helps with "soft hands" when off-road.

I have a couple of pairs of troy lee MX gloves that I started using after I went to 40s.

at the time, I hadn't seen anyone else even attempt to put 40s on a mid-travel raptor that did Baja things. It was uncharted territory. I knew that I had to change some of my driving habits if I wanted to preserve the factory steering rack.

Big tires on a raptor with the EPAS takes finesse if you don't want to be breaking parts left and right. I learned from the experience of breaking my truck when it was on 37s.

I like to pretend that I'm pretty "okay" at driving offroad. I'm not the fastest. I'm not the slowest. I know when I can push it, and I know when I have to protect the truck.

The first time I went on an ExO run, I destroyed the steering rack in my truck about 35 miles outside of San Felipe, in the desert, in the dark. It sucked.

I know plenty of people that can drive circles around me. I get humbled watching people like Jarrett and Jeff from SVC, Tom Wayes ( the man, the myth, the mustache), Mike Shaffer (5-time Baja 1000 Champion), and the OG crew from ExO drive their trucks.

Out of all of those folks... none of them drive their trucks with "Kung-fu" grip.

[QUOTE="smurfslayer, post:

I hope this guy does get the truck fixed but I think his anger at Ford is misplaced. Why isn’t he complaining that his eibach springs caused his death shake or that the brand of tire he runs is responsible? More importantly, why isn’t he looking in the mirror and admitting to himself that he caused this problem?

Because Ford has the deepest pockets.....

New video, he's shopping for Gen 1.
His wife is annoying and this upload was hard to watch with the whining and terrible camera skills...

On a side note, A Chevy Trail Boss is no where near the level to the Raptor.
The ZR2 is a down grade from a Raptor.
Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is also not comparable to the Raptor. Toyota is trying too hard with the FOX Shocks they started putting on the TRD Pro a couple of years ago.

The guy just needs to get another Gen 2.
