Yeah, read about this in a breaking news article on my phone the other morning. Truly sad. Unbelievable. He was an amazing driver. My first introduction to his majesty’s driving prowess was Gymkhana 7: Wild in the Streets of Los Angeles. Simply amazing… I was hooked at that point.
He was one with his automobiles. Reminds me of the Steve Irwin tragedy. Both men went to the extreme in their professions. Seemingly Gods of their respective trades. Only to be taken down by the simplest, most innocent acts in their daily doings. Many times they came in the face of death, and laughed. Steve did it every time he went into an enclosure with a hungry adult crocodile, or going up a tree after the worlds most venomous snake. Ken did it drifting around each curve on the way to the top of Pikes Peak. Or, blindly jumping sand dunes in the UAE.
Then, the simplest of feats catches these two great professionals off guard. I hate we lost these guys. I respected them both. Each of their legends will live on for years to come. No one will ever take their place.
Ken, you have many fans here that sends your family condolences. May your daughter continue to follow in your footsteps. God bless the Block family, and friends.
