No need to change the air filter at 3k miles. The book says to change the air filter every 30k miles. However, I checked mine at 15k and felt that it was necessary to replace it driving city and highway in Atlanta. I do do some light off roading though, so maybe yours will not be as dirty in 15k miles. As far as the air filter goes, I like to use OEM parts as the OEM air filter is usually the best in terms of filtration. I do not like K&N or other aftermarket filters that advertise their filters as better flowing because in my mind more airflow means more dirt particles.

For engine oil and filter, use whatever decent brand you like. I have done some research about the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend that is recommended for our trucks and it seems that that oil is pretty decent. Most say that the Mobil 1 (double the cost) is not worth it, and that the Motorcraft stuff is good enough. However, my family has been long time Mercedes owners and we always used Mobil 1 as per Mercedes recommendations. So, it was a no brainer when I changed the Raptor's oil. I also like the Mobil 1 filter, but again many people say the Motorcraft filter is already pretty good. If you want the best stuff then you have to go with Amsoil. It just depends if you think it is worth the added cost.

You are already doing a good thing by doing preventative maintenance, which is already much earlier than the recommended in your case. It's up to you whether you wanna save a few bucks or spend the extra money on better brand oils, but whatever you decide... make sure you do not buy Fram....

If you would like a quote on AMSOIL to determine whether the cost is worth it, let me know. No obligations, no preconceptions, just facts.

Agreed 100%

Ill check my air filter.. since pollen in atlanta was a B ..

Check and test everything every 6 months, at least one week before any warranty ends and make sure the brakes look like they are wearing properly. Inspect everything change oil filter and oil... Check for proper inflation of your tires ! ! ! Check them COLD

Also check your spare tire for proper inflation most overlooked item....
