Agreed, Ford ESP is excellent. I think Omar may have been referring to the aftermarket warranties that some dealers sell, which are generally terrible.
I’ve have vehicles with extended factory warranties, aftermarket extended and vehicles without extended warranties. Of the new 4 wheel vehicles I’ve purchased I’ve used the factory warranty pretty heavily, including a successful lemon lawsuit on one of them. After the 3/36/etc I’ve used both aftermarket and extended warranties 4 times. Once was the Ford ESP on my Lightning, the AC compressor went about 2007-2008(?) the part was 900 bucks from the stealership, I paid the $50 deductible and moved on with life. The aftermarket warranty was a dog fight to get coverage, then get the repair itself fully paid and was way too much drama.
If you are calculating a need for a reliable daily driver, and you’re not planning on heavy modifications, the Ford ESP can cover you out to something like 8 years 125k miles - I think that was the max when I looked. If you got an 802A with moon roof, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong, but they’re also statistically pretty good.
If you suffer one hard part failure after 60k, the warranty will probably pay for itself.
OTOH, if you’re going to mod the truck and do Raptor things with your Raptor, set some money aside in the bank for repairs and enjoy life. Just because I had good experience with the Ford ESP and not so much the Allstate plan, doesn’t mean you’ll even need it or that you should get one. Make the decision that’s right for you.
