Good choice on the diy and fumoto valve. Put a piece of tubing on the nipple and drain it back into your old oil jugs next time instead of dirtying up a drain pan.

I usually just use a small metal strap wrench for the filter, not a fan of cups.

When I did the first oil change on my ‘17 and my ‘20 the original oil filter was slightly different from the motor craft ones I had bought. The oil ports were bigger on the original iirc.

My dealer consistently leaves a ton of crap on the inside of my skid plate, I've complained but the Jr High drop-outs they hire don't have the I.Q. to understand.
It's a pain but I agree, it's worth it to just do it yourself!

That right there was what had me shaking my head by the time I was done. Once I had finished reaching in real far to make sure I had all the oil cleaned up good I had oil all up my arms like I was 12 doing my first oil change for my dad! The only thing I was missing was oil all over my face.

All the different oil filter tools I've collected over the years were just a little too big for this filter. That's how I ended up with the big channel locks. I didn't want to be a total animal and ram a screwdriver through the filter. I haven't had to do that in 15 or 20 years. With wanting to run Mobil 1 from here on, I didn't trust the dealer to not put in whatever cheap shit they have on hand.

It’s still faster for me to change the oil in my garage than to burn time waiting to someone else to do it.

I was at a friend’s place yesterday and he just had a lift installed. Not necessary for the Raptor but would help with car maintenance.

Why would it be a no-no? I’ve always done it on every single oil change I have done on every single vehicle I have owned. First time I’ve ever heard of it being a no-no.

Now, I know what to expect. Old oil goes right into an empty jug with the fumoto.

I know where to grab onto the filter to remove and know where to put the pan to catch the oil. Wipe up the trough over the cross member.

Now, not hard at all.

I use these to remove the filter since it’s pretty tight in there:

I pre-fill the new oil filter about 1/3 to at least soak the media. Quickly spin it on and hand tight only. I’ve heard here that it’s a no-no to lube the filter gasket but I do.

Must be a Canadian thing, I have the same one!
