Yes you should be getting the redesigned units. I was told by my rep at JLT that once the new filter replacements were shipped to current customers, all orders from that point on would have the new filters.

Anyone know why we have to pull the old screen out? I'm assuming it restricts airflow too much? IMO, this new screen seems a bit like a temporary band-aid. I'm afraid it will just pop right out if it encountered anything more than 5-8psi of air pressure coming through there, or it might even wiggle out from off-road vibrations (it is well oiled after all). It also seems strange that the fix was this small filter, instead of just flipping the can 180 degrees on the system, so that the I/O ports swap flows (perhaps the internals are more complex than I'm thinking they are?).

I have the same questions myself. Hopefully JLT will chime in.

Was reading about the improved filter and said to myself.
Those filters look like the same diameter as my spray gun filters.

Just to get this straight. Im to remove the large screen from the large hole (TB side) and insert the small screen into the small hole (valve cover side)? So I wont be using the large screen at all.

Regardless, big props and thanks go out to JLT for not only doing the R&D and upgrading existing products, but doing it all for free. Thank you for looking out for your customers. That's what gains my future business, even if I don't install this particular update.
Huh? Why would you not install the update?? I'm here to tell you and show you (did you watch the video?) that it's a much better set up.

1) PCV systems don't see boost or pressure. PCV closes under pressure
2) it's a nice tight fit with 0 restriction to be "pushed", "pulled" or wiggle out
3) flipping the can puts the logo backwards, not good on many applications

This is no "band aid" we spent thousands of $$ and hundreds of hours testing materials to perfect the oil collection operations of the unit. Every time this type of filter worked best.

All I can say is install the free part, drive and see for yourself.

Here are just a few so far from GT500 guys:
First impression

Install took 3 minutes.

I put on about 175 miles (mixed HWY and surface streets) in the last 2 days.

I'd estimate the new filter collected 2X the oil in 2 days as it would collect in 1 month with the old filter.

It's a little tough to tell in the photo, but there is significantly more oil than what I have seen in past checks.
I've had mine on since Saturday and I checked it last night... it has about the same amount of oil as pictured above... MUCH more than it would have collected in a month.
I'll throw my experience in:

I installed mine sunday night and have driven probably around 400 miles since the install. I don't think I'm exxagerating to say it has collected more oil in the 4 days since install then it did the entire time I had it prior to the change...
After a day at the track

Had a great 'track day' in south Phoenix yesterday. Track was 1.1 miles (Old Firebird Raceway West Track). 4 sessions with about 15 laps per session.
Max speed was 102.5 in the strait (should have turned TC to sport mode to get more speed coming out of the corner, into the strait )
Collected quite a bit of oil...just eyeballing it, I would say it a little more than the amount collected after 175 DD miles earlier in the week.

I have had my JLT on just the passenger side for at least 2500 miles and have checked it with the old filter after 500 miles then after 1000 miles and there wasn't anymore then about a tablespoon in it. Then I got the updated filter and put about 150 miles of normal driving on it, and when I checked it there was 2-3 tablespoons in it. So the new filter has my vote, and thanks Tucker for the info to remove the large screen wasn't sure at first.

So a question.. I must not have fully read the directions ( i was in a rush to finish it) and installed the new filter, cleaned and re-installed the large filter as well. Will this cause any issues? I'm deployed now and want to make sure just incase my wife needs to use my truck while i'M GONE.

The small filter is all you need. You can throw away the big one. Unsure if this will cause any issues but I doubt it will.

OK, I'm back with some results.
Using the modified paint gun filter (see above) w/50 mesh
and thoroughly cleaning & reinstalling the original filter.

After 669.1 miles I obtained
approx. 10x the oil collection as the original.
It would have taken (before Mod) approx. 6,000 miles
to collect the same amount of oil separation.

Thanks JLT - for providing us with the improved design.
Using the modified paint gun filters, as I did, gives a choice of
mesh sizes. Using them as a Supplier is "food for thought"

Is it just me, but why do you need to filter oil that is going in to a catch can? Why filter something you are going to throw away?
