unfortunately my pictures got lost when my last phone broke. but in this thread for joe you can see the box. this has 2 12"pioneer shallow mount woofers. jl hadnt released the 10" shallow mount yet so at the time, it was the best option. the box for the jl woofers is the same size. the jl speakers require just a little more airspace even though they are a little smaller.

something is wrong with my camera on this phone, but you can get an idea. all supercab boxes start out like this. this is an exact mold of the bottom of the rear seat. it is shaped so it fits around your oem floormat. no need for cutting. i start with 6 layers of marine grade fiberglass and let it cure completely before i do any work to it. this allows the fiberglass to shrink (when it cures) properly without it changing shape.

also i have to add, you do lose the ability to fold the seat up once the box is in place. unfortunately it is the only way to get the proper airspace and also to allow the woofer to completely fit under the seat without sticking out.

Sorry, that was meant as a general statement. Not supposed to be directed specifically towards you and your questions.

Ok, last question Noah. I've used a line out converter before to install a sub on a factory stereo in my old subaru. Does it matter if I only use one side (rear left or rear right)? When I did it before I used both but I've heard it doesn't really matter because it's just for bass. What your "professional" opinion? thanks

if you only use one channel, then you are getting half the signal. a sub signal is a mono signal. meaning that there is no left and right channel (however sub amps do have left and right inputs) so lets take ac/dc back in black for example. just about everyone has heard the intro to their song. notice the sounds from the left and right? how an instrument starts one one side and then the other instruments come in? well imagine that with an instrument that is supposed to have a little bass behind it and you only got sub signal from the left channel. this means that every instrument on the right channel will not have any bass. the amp has a left and a right channel input, but the signal coming out and going to the woofer is from both channels. meaning that the sub will play both left and right bass. imagine that the drummer is on the left side of stage but you are only getting signal from the right side, well you would have officially tuned out the drummer at this point. so in short, it is always necessary to get both left and right signal for a sub in order for it to sound correctly

Damn, I knew you were going to say that. So I'll have to pull both pillars to get the right and left then? I doubt ford ran them together then across. How difficult is it to pull the pillars off?
