When installing shorty headers would how much would i have to take off, loosen or disassemble to get the headers on? examples: Wheels, Motor Mounts, Alt., Wheel House Liner, etc. If not then im down!

Hard to say about the 6.2 but, I have installed 2 sets of shorty's on my 01 and 04 F150 in the driveway of my place. Removing only the stock manifolds. I have looked at it I believe the only thing you would need to do to make it easier is remove the engine mounts and lift the engine up some.
If I remember right I saw that some place did install a set on a 6.2 might have been SDHQ im not sure but I remember reading that someone did it. Maybe someone here knows.

I did LT's on mine but for shorties I would say u need to remove skids, starter, wheels, possibly oil dip stick, and maybe steering shaft. U will also probably still need to lift and push the engine back.

So what is the driving factor to a shorty header, easier install or cost?

The only driving factor for me would be that the CEL for O2 would not be of concern.
Maybe someone has installed long tubes and not thrown a CEL, but I haven't seen that, or known the specifics.

Has anyone considered a header somewhere between shorties and long tubes, that would accommodate the stock catback location and be CEL friendly.

I have a 5.4L so not sure if that makes a difference. If i have to take all that apart like wheels, skid, engine mount, starter, etc. i might not do it or have someone do it for me. i could prob do it but either dont time or not sure what i would mess up during the process. I have done stuff on my 440 cuda and lot easier on those type of engines.

Your 5.4L is a 3v, shorty's wont help you that much. The best increase is on 2v motors

Only way you can stop a engine light is not to change the designed cat and 02 sensor locations...

They do make mid-length headers for other vehicles. However, depending on how efficient the cats are, if running high flow cats you will more then likely still get a CEL ...

But... You could run O2 simulators to prevent the CEL, even with no cats at all.
