I typed up a entire page full of stuff but I decided to post this link instead.
Antenna Mounts

I have experience with mag mounts, they do not perform like a hard mount.

For example, I was able to work a station over 40 miles away on simplex (no repeater) with a little 1/4 wave single band antenna matched for the band I was on. In a urban environment.... the city of Buffalo in between us! Out in the open it should excel.

In those cases place the magnet on the front fender.... or rear lip of the bed.....

Good advice, in my case it was just too cold and too hectic to stop and re route the cable. I did learn when and where not to put the mag mount. I put it on the roof to try to improve reception.

is there an updated price on the handhelds? seem to be going for low $140 on amazon. I know they come programed, but the cord is cheap and there is free software. Or am I missing something? do these radios come with something extra? thanks
