Yep, i have the same mount and used it on tailgate last year at TRR.. It worked perfectly.. Easily removed and placed in bed to keep sticky handed people from knowing there is radio gear in truck.

Are magnet mounts that bad?
Reason I ask is cause I have the ARE fiberglass tonneau cover and I have no where to mount that on the bed.
I don't want to drill in the cab either.

I use both a mag mount and fixed mount... Both are the same antenna just different mounts.. I place the mag on the roof if I remove my bed rack.. Works the same either way and I have no loss of reception or transmission.. I use a browning antenna mounts and have two antennas, but there identical to each other just fixed versus magnetic.

So reception is the same for both set-ups. Cool!
Magnet mount it is.

The Browning does not require a ground plane to work properly so the magnet mount works perfect...

OK so browning magnet mount and which antenna is the best. Any model numbers by chance?
I'm gonna start my search, but if you could recommend the one you have would be great.

This is from Amazon, the price is cheaper than I can order it as a dealer this is the one I use and it works very well..
Amazon.com: Browning BR-159 Wideband VHF Land Mobile Antenna: Car Electronics

Order all 3 items from the also order list and you get the antenna and mag mount and trunk fixed mount as a prime member shipping is free,,,, :gay:

That gets you all three items for under 70.00$

This lets you run an Icom F5021 from the lowest to the highest frequency it can... If you always use a frequency you can trim the antenna to get better reception but I like being able to program any channel I want. It is not the most effective for any one channel but allows you to do more. I go from the desert southwest and the police/sherriff/emergency cahnnel there to anywhere I can look up the local used frequency and tune that channel in my radio.... I can listen to things as they happen like a local recent bank robbery... I set mine to inhibit transmission on police frequency so I dont have accidents...

PS I also added a extra 12 foot coax cable to get it long enough and a coupling to hook the 2 cables to each other also amazon here it is...

Amazon.com: Seachoice VHF Coaxial Antenna Cable with Fittings: Sports & Outdoors

and you need this

Amazon.com: Seachoice VHF Cable Double Adapter: Sports & Outdoors

Its easier to tell you than explain it.. I dont know how far from the antenna mount you want to go so order the cable length in the drop down menu...

The one downside of magnetic mount that I have experience with is mine got knocked off by low hanging branches quite often during the Snoball. Still worked, even though it ended up wrapped around the axle once.
