I may be a possible Raptor owner soon.

I take my hat off to you. This was incredibly patient of you to see through the incredibly poor presentation by the OP which felt like nonsense magazine racing and actually provide useful information. I am actually shocked.

As an aside I think I’m the only person who really likes the normal throttle response of the Gen2. I tried the Pedal Commander and ended up realizing I like just sauntering around town which I got from the factory setup. And when I wanna be more spirited I just push further and quicker on the pedal (or use sport mode to get real weird). I understand the appeal, but didn’t feel like it was for me.

Yes, you win the internet by telling everyone that since I compared seat of the pants feel between V8 vehicles I own below 2500 rpms, and the Raptor I'm wanting to buy- its an incredibly poor presentation/magazine racing.
All because another guy told me to put an aftermarket product on the Raptor....to make it perform better....below 2500 rpms.

I'm new to the forum as well (like within a week) and even I realize you are going to need some thicker skin if you are going to last around here.

Lol. I like it.

It’s all good. It’s hard to convey sarcasm on a message board. But I get your point.

You are not alone Photon, I too like the normal mode. My pedal commander stays switched off most of the time.

I wonder if some of it could also be attributed to how each vehicle breaks in probably? Mine (and sounds like yours too) feels fine in normal mode to me.

I think ultimately it comes down to what you expect from the truck. I have a separate go-fast car so I leave the truck to be itself and put it to work (long distance travel in quiet, refined comfort, tow my motorcycles and trailer to race tracks, rock crawl, overland).

In any of those use cases, I don't have a problem with the V6 noise, or lack of it either. When I am making 600 mile road trips, or towing a 5000 lb trailer, or crawling in 4LO with rear locked, I really don't want to hear any exhaust. Bottom line: if you are not magazine racing or going to cars and coffee with your truck, the Gen 2 weak points never really surface.

you have made it clear to me that you wont be happy in a V6 so just get a XLT or platinum with a V8. You can then do a lift and bigger tires. Add some badging if you like too. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Also, since cost is a concern to you, you will save a lot by getting a lesser model. Dont over reach on your budget. If a new Raptor comes out with a V8 (unlikely) then you could always upgrade.

Does anyone in this forum listen to music?? Honestly I’ve never even listened to the exhaust note to even get a chance to bitch about it. I’m too consumed by how quiet and comfortable the ride is.

P.s. Did you buy the raptor yet?

I like one thing, and one thing only about “normal” mode on the Raptor.
it gets good mileage.

Otherwise, it’s lazy as F*ck.

around town, it’s ok, but not ‘responsive’. Ford muted the throttle response significantly. where I really don’t like it is part throttle response and when it has to downshift from 10 to like 3rd, or if you want to pass someone, but not at WFO throttle. In normal mode, the truck is like “F*ck you, I’m not downshifting, low and slow is how we roll”

sport is better, but holds gears way too long.

The truck has not arrived yet, but I gave them 1000.00 deposit to hold it when it does get in.
