I may be a possible Raptor owner soon.

As far as the Eco torque vs most V8s the graphs I have seen on this forum tell a different story under 2500 rpm or so.

Then there is also the V8 seat of the pants feel that was lacking on the Raptor. As I said it’s not a deal breaker, just different.

If you are WOT and keep it under 2.5k, you are most definitely doing it wrong.

Were you that bored you felt the need to add nothing to my post?

Sorry man, didn't mean to turn you off with my smartass comment.

To tell you the truth, your OP was pretty silly for two reasons:

a) the Gen 2 is a faster truck than the Gen 1. Period. You know the HP and Torque numbers, and the torque curve, so I won't bother quoting. To hear anyone say otherwise is just straight up silly. Even hardcore Gen 1 fans won't deny the Gen 2 is all around faster. Not to mention several hundred pounds lighter.

b) Your decision is entirely personal. Not sure what anyone can tell you about whether you like a V6 or V8.

Anyway, no offense meant. If you do end up buying a Gen 2, we look forward to welcoming you into the "community"

I appreciate that. But first off, “fast” is a not the word to use when talking about the difference in engines on a vehicle. I was pretty clear in my post that I did not feel the low end torque in the Raptor vs the V8 vehicles I normally drive.

I’m well versed in the numbers, and as I posted earlier the Eco does not compare well with a V8 below 2500 or so rpms based on the graphs I’ve seen here.

I’m sorry my post seemed silly. I guess I was looking for some direction from owners who may have had my same reservations about the vehicle before making the leap.

Lots of FRF members have upgraded from G1 to G2 and as far as I've seen, every one of them was thrilled with the performance and comfort improvements.

Possibly. But still a lot of discussion on the Eco 6 both good and bad across the net. Again was just looking for some opinions.

Where are you guys getting this from??????????????????? I'd love to see what graphs you are referring to.

Here are a couple I was able to pull up:

This AFE chart says a stock Gen 2 makes 300 ft-lbs at 2250 rpms:

This 5 star chart says a stock Gen 1 makes 250 ft-lbs at 2500 rpms:

I am no dyno expert, but I know that 300 is bigger than 250, and I know 2250 rpms are lower than 2500.

Only people bashing the G2 are closed minded G1 owners. Have yet to see anyone regret ditching the G1 for the G2.

I’m not actually comparing it to a Gen 1. Just comparing a 500hp motor to the cars I currently own.

My BMW 650i with a TT 4.4 V8 that makes 420 ft/pounds@ 2000 rpms or my Range Rover SC 5.0 that makes 516 ft lbs at 3500 rpms ( 478 @ 2000 rpms).

A fair comparison? Probably not but HP does not tell the whole tale.
