I lost one of my Headlight trim retaining clips

These are not the clips that slip over the tabs.they are this style but white plastic

They’re not plastic, they’re metal. And sharp.

Same are used on the bumper trim. I searched online and identified it as this part number
Manufacturer: Ford
Part Number: -W704277-S439 <-- it’s not this part number !
Part: Valance Panel U-Nut

But that was a swing and a miss. Dealer showed me the part and it was not like what you ( we, actually ) need.

I would like to put forth the suggestion that whomever designed this clip and whomever implemented it for use on vehicle trim be identified, tracked down, and burned at the stake.

@Pankster - which clip (location on the h/l trim?) Is it the middle of the trim that is between high and low beams? Both of mine did not survive grill assembly removal and no ill effects. Lost 2 more from the bumper trim too, no idea where they went.

Yep, I lost the clip between the high and low beams! I'm still waiting on the clips but I doubt they will be what I'm looking for. Somebody has to know the part number. I'm going to reach out to some of the headlight retrofit guys to see if they can help.

mine is 100% white plastic- it holds the bezel that surrounds the medial and lower portions of the headlight. I finally went to a junk yard and got a handful for free.

hmm... I’m wondering if they actually are the same then.

so, it’s not like i haven’t had plenty of opportunities to take a picture, or take them to the dealer when I was trying to source a few but no.... I’ve managed to forget each time.

I’ll try to describe, best I can recall. they’re secure to plastic, 1/2” tabs on the bumper cover, and have 2 opposing ‘teeth’ on opposite sides that grab the plastic slot. So the slot slides into the clip and secures. Said clip has spring like ‘humps’ to secure into a “slot” in a hard part.

I thought they were the same as the headlight trim but.. Obx says headlight trim is plastic. bumper trim pieces are metal.

6G1Z5410182D looks like a possibility (last two characters are 2D, not ZD). I may order one just out of curiosity at this point. Junk yard had several totaled late model f-150s with the bumpers and headlight trim hanging off- took handful to guy at desk and he just gave them to me. I said "plastic" in my posts- I guess they are actually white nylon. The pic below points to the U-nut that is most prone to breaking when disassembling the headlight trim. If you are taking grill off, slow down here and pull straight out- dont peel it off to the side.
