I see your point, but I really just need a bin. It doesn't need to lock. The Ford one for the Screw is $85 shipped, no jack relocation, no drilling, uses existing holes. I think that's the way I'm going to go.

Look in my gallery. This is the one I have and like it. It does NOT come with those dividers. Works well for me.

I can't justify $250 just for a top with a lock. This works well.

I have a 2012 SCREW (with sub) and installed the Ford plastic bin. It only costs about $75-80 and fits nicely with 3 screws. The only advantage of the Tuffy that I can see is (1) its lockable and (2) its metal (if you consider that an advantage). The only downside to any of these bins is if you have young children that require car seats, you can't access the bin unless you detach one or both car seats, even if you only have one installed on the passenger side. In my case, I have 2 car seats installed using LATCH, which are a major PIA to install/uninstall.

No kids. No need for a lock since it's inside the cab. I'll build dividers if I need them. I'm going with the Ford box for $80.

No kids? Well then you should make some! Lol. I also have a pair of Swingcases in the bed for storage so I only put things I seldom use in the bin.

I need the lockable metal unit as I will transport weapons and ammo in there. Based on the needs you guys describe, sounds like the ford unit is fine.

Installed mine a little while ago. Really nice. black powder coated and solid.

This was a good thread.

Big Blue,

Did you put something on the floor of the bin to keep metal from metal? I am considering the 283 since I have no subwoofer and also need to transport guns and ammo.

I was going to order the OE one from my local Ford dealer but they wanted $157 out the door. I laughed a little and said no thank you. I ordered it online for $86 delivered. My local dealer likes to screw you as you can tell.:hump:
