I feel like an idiot for custom ordering a Raptor

I'm in the forever waiting pool like many... Just for kicks I looked on ebay and counted 13 nicely loaded 2012 Raptors for sale right now. For those of you considering the long wait, you should consider cancelling your order and just buy one of these. I'm going to call my dealership tomorrow to see if I can buy one of these via dealer trade and let them sell my Raptor when it shows up...

I walked into the dealership & 45 minutes later drove out with mine.
I had talked to several dealerships about ordering & was given the 2-6 month timeline & decided against it. Don't blame you for not wanting to wait!

Thats excaly what happened to me. I had one on order and while I was waiting another came in almost like I ordered. No sense in waiting IMHO... :peace: More time behind the wheel, instead of a keyboard wishing/waiting...

I'm going to own this truck for at least 5 years, hopefully I can hang onto it and not get bored and keep it for 10 years.

For all this money, and all the time I'll be owning it, holding out on a wait sucks, but worth it in the end IMO because for 1 I have to do ZERO haggling with a dealership, 2. I have to put in no more effort than telling Randy here's what I want, no hours wasted searching up, to haggle, bargain, and fight off trying to get screwed. And 3. I don't have to make ANY compromises, I'm getting exactly what I want, with no less, nothing missing that I really wanted, and no more, nothing extra that I didn't want to pay extra for.

So unless there's a 2012 ordered EXACTLY as I ordered mine, for the EXACT price or less, and LOCAL or no cost for transport, then I'll just have to wait. A few extra weeks in the grand scheme is nothing compared to years of ownership.

Reptar - you thinking we will hear ANYTHING TODAY? TOMORROW? What build week you think we are looking at at this point?

Someone might have been watching :).. ..my window sticker showed up today. My confidence for a build next week is increasing... but not enough to put in my Leer canopy order with matching paint.

I already have a few planned urban street jumps & rail crossings to make sure I get all the air bubbles out of the Fox shock oil before I tear up the dirt.

I'm spending the winter designing and building a DH shuttle rack for the bed... for any of you dh bikers out there.

If we get VIN#'s today or tomorrow, I'd say we're looking at build weeks the week of 16-Jan. If we don't get anything till next week I say we're probably looking at the week of 23-Jan. Both of which put delivery in February, just a matter of how far into February.

And just think, if things follow the schedule of this year, 2013 order banks should open around August. A whopping 6 months after I'd have my truck. Nothing like ordering a brand new model year the 1st day the order banks open, yet not getting it for 6 months. Extremely tempting to just wait it out for a 2013 although I'm sure Ford would play the same f'ed up games with their paying customers.
