550-600hp and 18mpg would check my box. Pretty much have that minus the 18mpg at highway speeds(my 5 star economy mode 16 fx4 didn’t do it either)

I popped on a stage 2 kit from Cobb and the FMIC is about as crazy as I’m willing to get in terms of mods. Also have a axle dump exhaust and that will be about it.

To me our trucks have plenty of power stock. I would guess that the next gens will probably have a 100hp bump. Doubt it will be 700hp. I think with concept vehicles a lot of times manufactures shoot for the moon. I don't think 700hp will be reliable out of a truck that a lot of us drive daily.

You have enough power when you can spin the rear wheels from the exit of one corner to entrance of the next corner. Max horsepower means nothing in daily driver scenarios. Your horsepower is adjustable by how far you push the gas pedal. Engine management keeps everything pretty tame driving around town. If you drive like an ass with 450 hp then yes you will get in trouble with 700+ hp. Yes there is some MPG loss with turning a supercharger vs turbos. Most boosted engines have a tad lower compression ratio the a N/A engine so there is loss of MPG there too. Trade off is when you push the gas to floor and feel the Horsepower. If your the type of driver that never gets into boost and never over 75mph then 700+hp might not be for you. My ideal # would be 800 hp and 18 mpg .

When you find the 18mpg /800HP I'm in..!! Right now I guess I'll just have to live with 14mpg/595hp...the things we must endure...LOL....
And so true....if you get in trouble with 450hp...even 300hp...then you better set up a "Bail" fund to get your 700HP out of impound...
As my Mechanic told me when I got mine..(he has the new Shelby Mustang)...you are going to have every yahoo on the road wanting to race you....just turn and smile,cause you dont have to prove anything....
So,yes,450 is nice,and really more than the average driver needs....600-800 even nicer,IF you have some self control.LOL

For me my 10 6.2 has enough.power for me. I'm coming from a 376hp 09 RT Challenger w a 6spd. I've only had the truck for 3 months but off road it has good power and on the highway and commuting it's been plenty. I could see doing headers and exhaust and small stuff but im.happy with it stock. To me 4wd trucks have never been about being on the street. I'd like to drive a Gen 2 to see the difference but dont see me upgrading to one for a couple reasons.

Who is giving up their brand new battery pack in exchange for a used one, even if it did fit?

I think you could buy the electric cars without a battery, then lease/rent the batteries as Needed. That way you don’t have to worry about getting someone’s crap battery, you don’t have to worry about your battery reaching its’ end of life and being hit with that expense. As battery technology improves, you can lease better batteries. The used batteries as they age could be used as backup power to solar and wind farms for when the sun/wind isn't shining/blowing.

I have stage 1 cobb on my truck/93 tune - It woke the truck up a lot. I would be very happy if the truck came that way from the factory, it just feels so much more responsive.

Although if the dodge really comes out with 700hp then Ford will need something to compete with it. I think an all aluminum smaller displacement V8 twin turbo would be the ticket to these trucks.

Dodge doesn't build trucks. If you are talking about RAM Rebel it would just be a shipping crate for a high HP motor - no competition there.

Hey I went from a 305 hp 2004 FX4 to my new Gen 2. So I’m happy with 450. Maybe later I’ll try the Cobb or similar

IMO, the future of the electric vehicle is hydrogen fuel cells, not battery technology. There is a Company (Nikola Motors) building hydrogen electric 18 wheelers along with a network of hydrogen filling stations. Refueling times would be similar to gas/diesel, emissions friendly, and no battery waste issue to resolve. Perhaps the future of the Raptor is 800+ HP....4 hydrogen powered electric motors, one at each wheel, putting out 200HP each and an insane amount of torque.

They are also building 580hp electric SxS and an electric PWC. The heavy truck has been in development for like 3 years and totally blows away Mercedes and Tesla concepts. It has 1000mi range and can pull 80K load up 6-8% grade at 80mph. Opening a plant in Coolidge around 4Q 2019. Check their web site - bad ass simi, and cool video of the SxS.

With Ford partnering with Rivan and VW on electric vehicles they will be coming soon. The demo'ed a prototype F150 pulling a million pound freight train. I could see a 1000hp electric Raptor with range pretty much in line with the 3.5HO. I'm sure it would have shocking price.

I would agree on the future being with HCEVs as it takes a lot of rare earth minerals (fairly scarce also) to build batteries for current EVs and like China is pretty much the only supplier, so total battery solutions aren't viable long term. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in nature so leverage the H fuel cell to gen the electricity makes the most sense.
