Love the front bumper, were you having clearance issues with the stock front bumper? How has the bumper and the 37" tires affected you Mileage. At 5.00 dollars a gallon I now start thinking about effect on MPG from Mods I want to do.

Thanks

Yes, you nailed it! When going down steep inclines into washes, or turning around on a tight trail, or banging thru the whoops; you want as little out front as possible. Stock bumper is not that strong either. Both the RPG Pre-Runner and Race-Line front bumpers give you significantly greater clearance than stock, and the taller tires gives you another 1" of clearance over stock.

I did not have my 5 Star tune re-installed since getting truck PCM replaced - O2 sensor issue, which was finally fixed btw by replacing the wiring harness - 2 month saga finally resolved...Anyway, the last few tanks have seen a slight improvement in MPG, not that I can attribute it to any one thing, too many variables in the mix.

Gas pricing sucks, and the worst part is that in California the problem is self inflicted as we have "special" blends for each season and limited refining supplies. Environmentalists run amok and a legislature completely out of touch with reality, but I digress.

I guess what I am trying to say is that: "Don't let the high price of gas stop you from enjoying your Raptor, as that is likely not why you got it. Enjoy yourself, Life to too short to worry about things you can not control"

It's too bad Ford didn't offer us the Eco-Boost option, I got to play with RPG's Eco-Boost F150 and it was a hoot to drive, Jarrett had the exhaust off due to time constraints on suspension upgrades and we beat the shit out of it at Barstow. The high revving 6 cylinder TT was music to my ears as we manually kept the revs up high. Funny the MPG went to like 12 because the loss of the exhaust back pressure, but for those that need to use as a DD, the Eco would be a great choice.

Would you prefer the Eco or the 6.2L at the end of the day?
Was the "Sport Mode" feature incorporated into the Eco raptor??

The costs of a whipple, i wouldnt mind seeing a Turbo/TT Build come to life on the 6.2. Included with economy tunes and boost controller (of course) to keep mileage to a minimal when in town or not needing more power. :)

If I had been given the choice, I would have taken the Eco - no doubt.

I do not recall, it was one of those jump in and get going...

Yeah, maybe with some programming to deactivate some of the cylinders when not needed, it would be great to be able to get 20 MPG just cruising around town

The 6.2 in Off-Road mode and 5 star tune, in my opinion, has enough power for fun and performance, plus enough to get you into trouble quickly, so I am in no hurry to boast my HP, what I would prefer is another method to manually shift gears in manual mode instead of the +/- switch, faster gear changes with greater visibility to the driver.

Then there is the prospect of what Chris Ross is getting with the long travel suspension, don't think that has not been on my mind... I have been envisioning what 19" of travel with 39" wheels could handle.

The other thing is to improve braking, something I will do as soon as I use up some more of what I have. Can anyone tell me what mileage I should expect from the stock brakes?

Can't tell you the mileage but I can say I dealt with a place called RotorPro's
http://rotorpros.net/
He's on The Harley truck forums. I had all 4 rotors black Zinc, painted red hubs, in slotted/dimpled for $280-$300 shipped
I bet we could get him to be a vendor here too. They were AWESOME on my Harley. RotorPro's offer painted hubs, ect. Lasted me forever if I woulda changed my pads sooner. Lol. Never warped and I threw new pads on without turning the rotors EVEN THOUGH I NEEDED to, lol. Yea the new pads wore down quick but i never felt warping one bit. Ordered another set without thinking. His rotors stayed on my Harley truck for 4-5+ years.

RPG Pre-Run Vegas to Barstow - After SEMA

Believe me there were a couple times on this trip I wished I had better brakes...

Very fortunate to live where I do in desert country. I feel for you Dutch, who is going to trailer his DCM (Raptor) from NC to Vegas for the LandRush! That is commitment! I only had to get up at 4:00 in the morning... It was a 16+ hour Raptor day yesterday, while many were enjoying football Jarrett, Brian and I did the pre-run for the 15 or so Raptors that will be caravan-ing from Vegas to Barstow following the SEMA show. We had a blast, and those that do the run will enjoy the fruit of our labor. Check out the detailed write up here

From a build perspective - the truck was flawless, well almost, there are always going to be some things you notice that you wish to improve. To optimize the light coming from inside the bumper, it needs to be adjusted slightly. I haven't yet decided on additional lights and may not until this is fixed.

Only one casualty this trip, one single can of beer lost its structural integrity and fouled the cooler. All the bottles survived :rockit: Very pleased with how my build has progressed.

Man Down! That is alcohol abuse; that will cost you Man Points! I was already to do your Cooler Mod, but it looks a fail to me!

Of course, I'm jealously of all you lucky Southwesterner's Raptor Owner, but Good Luck with the Expedition. I know you all will have a blast!

Well maybe half a man down, I mean it was lite beer.

Yup the foam compartments were engineered for bottles, to much up and down for them cans. They need their own space. I actually had some additional thoughts on the partitions, maybe make the top one hollow, to hold sandwiches like an integrated tray.

I swear it seams like I am the only one who thinks about food and suds on these things. what up?
