Racing Jack Belly Pan

Awesome build and great thread!

Thanks for the write ups!

My pleasure, glad you are getting something out of them, its why I do what I do..........................................................................................

Hydraulic Jacks are designed to work on a solid surface. When used in the dirt you either need to have a solid board or piece of metal to place underneath, or build a "Belly Pan" to prevent the jack from sinking instead of jacking.

As mentioned earlier, I bought the Harbor Freight 2 ton jack. Now I have heard from some that they wouldn't trust it. Nor should you without a jack stand or substantial rock (as in bigger and taller than your head, think Breaking Bad, season 3 when the ATM machine crushed the thief's head, but I digress) to protect you.

Well I have heard negative comments about the Craftsman's racing jack too, and I really didn't want the weight of a steel jack either. The HF jack was half the price, but to my knowledge no one has yet built a belly pan for it.

Well I asked, and RPG got er done. I probably should remove the side handles so it can get in close to the wheel...

Cooler Mod testing in Barstow

I'm only 2 pages in, but man what a well documented build thread.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write this up!

Oh yeah, awesome Raptor my man!

Thank you, she earned her stripes yesterday...

So as many of you know a successful day in the dirt is not complete unless the beer and the cooler survive intact. Take a look at the bottom of my cooler, you can see it takes a lot of abuse. The back end sits on the racing jack and there have been a couple times I forgot to strap it down after getting a cold one.

Even when I remember to strap it down, it takes a lot of abuse. I came up with a divide and conquer strategy. vertical foam insert can be shifted left to right to keep the beer bottles upright, top foam keeps them tight against the bottom. Funny how the non-controlled section turned the ice cubes into a slushy:

Here is low res picture of some of what we put this poor cooler thru. We were out testing for six hours, we put that cooler setup thru an absolute torture test and I am glad to report it held up great.

Now who says that testing isn't fun?

Great photo!!

You are completely missing the point. its all about the beer! :lol2:

jk - Thanks goes to my sis, the pro who risked life and limb for that shot, Jarrett was standing right next to her to yank her out of the way in case she tripped. I was very nervous and was full on the brakes upon landing, stopped 15 feet short of where they were. So they moved up 15 feet for the next shot! nuts!
