Sliders

Sliders? Yup! Cage, sorry boys, just moving some junk haha

I was going to wait before posting this up to do some testing on this new design. RPG made some changes that need to be tested, so a trip to Plaster City is on the short list. Will try to mount a go pro on the side of the truck to see how it performs thru the whoops and off angle jumps.

What is very unique about this design is that it is incorporates mounts to both the body and the Frame. The Sliders connect to the frame via bushings to minimize cab vibration. By also attaching to the body it should minimize the cab flex. Well that is what the tests should prove out. Jarrett already put the Screw version thru several hundred miles of off road testing, I did a bunch on her myself, got her airborne many times too, and they worked great! This new design is different where it meets the bedsides providing a step for access to the rear of the bed.

G, Can i suggest when you do your go pro and slider testing you remove your front mud flaps for a true test. I know some of us have mud flaps and some of us don't. I for one don't, and do not intend to get them. So seeing your mud flaps, i see you have extra "coverage" from flying dirt and rocks. Just a suggestion. :)

The mud flaps actually help hold back the modified fender... RPG washed the truck prior to driving south to SD, I noticed some oilly residue had sprayed up from the road. I may be able to just pin the liner back without the flap on to test. The main test I am interested in is the Bed Flex and will it contact the slider. I already know that it will help stiffen the chassis/Cab, huge difference in the before and after big air jumps at Barstow/Stoddard Wells testing loops. Landings were not violent at all, like landing on a cloud. Pure Joy and smiles from ear to ear.

Sliders look Awesome G!!
I like how they are a little longer/extended compared
to the OEM sidesteps...keep us posted G!!

Thanks, will find out if it works!

Wicked Performance Pedals

Pedals are pedals, why would anyone bother to swap them out? Because these things are Wicked!

IMAG1134_zpsf3ffc880.jpg

Is it because they look cool? I think so

Is it because they provide better traction than the stock rubber ones? Maybe

Is it because the F150 wasn't born with a "Dead Pedal"? Bingo!

Maybe not important to you young whippersnappers but for me, I miss it a lot. There is a reason why high end performance cars have them. It is more comfortable, helps to adjust yourself in the saddle, it relieves leg strain by allowing you to rest your foot in the proper position.

The product came well packed with detailed instructions, they don't however mention what tools you need, I found that a 4mm hex and a 10MM ratcheting wrench sufficed nicely. They do mention the 1/4" drill bit for the holes in the brake and gas pedals. I used a smaller bit for the pilot holes.

The dead Pedal bracket was brilliantly designed and attaches to a bolt that conveniently is sitting there waiting for you behind a removable plastic cap.

The bottom of the pedal is secured with three long self tapping screws. Don't try to power them in, it is nearly impossible to keep them from going in at the correct angle for the countersinks to line up flush. You can see the improperly lined up lower right hole...

After burning/melting the carpet fibers by heating up a small screwdriver, use the small pilot hole drill bit to get it started, you can see the next two holes went in perfect, and I was able to correct the first errant hole. Be careful and use a low torque setting on these screws, easy to strip.

Like I did on my rear mat with the modification for the Tuffy, I sealed the open chambers by cleaning with alcohol and then used pure silicone. I later ended up making the opening larger so the mat would lay better. Frankly you could zip off the entire portion behind the dead pedal as it really isn't doing anything anymore.

Sometimes its the little mods that bring great satisfaction...Well Done Wicked Performance.

G, another nice write up. Thanks for bringing this thread back on topic lol.

I like the dead pedal idea. After seeing your install pics, I got one question. Does it affect the distance the emergency brake pedal can swing?
Thanks!

Joe

Hi Joe,
Pictures have the Ebrake fully depressed, there is a ton of clearance.
