The other thing not mentioned is the established aftermarket for the 5.4L I'll bet you can find a cheap S/C where as us 6.2Ls are stuck with vortech until the expensive (but worth it) elusive roots setup is released.

I don't get it. What kind of weak-ass 6.2L's are you all driving? Mine is a ******* animal and was so straight-out-of-the-lot!

Granted, the 2011 6.2L vs. the 2010 6.2L (as I've eluted to before) is kick-your-ass different in terms of performance, but I would totally tune my shit back to stock and run ANY 5.4L with my current truck. Granted I still would have the intake and exhaust, but I mean -- I've driven a 5.4L and while I'm taking NOTHING away from that truck nor powerplant; I don't think I could have a Raptor with a 5.4L.

I just... Maybe ya'll need to come drive my factory freak or something, 'cuz my shit runs GOOD.

Oh, and regarding the comment about no powerband unless you're at WOT -- my 3rd and 4th gear under 1/2 throttle is more than enough to get that 6,000 pound beast rolling. Hmm.

Hmmm.

Maybe the shift mapping was still learning?

I dunno, I test drove one off the lot with maybe 40 miles on it, and around town, the two engines were VERY similar (WOT excepted of course).

It was the transmission shift points not allowing the 6.2 to hold gears very long at all.

Something people need to remember about the Raptor is that it's super sneaky about how fast you're going. 80mph literally feels like 45mph in this thing. They don't have that neck snapping plant you in the seat hits of power, rather it just rolls out like a locomotive.......and before you know it, you're flying. The first time I took a friend for a ride, he said it was nice but he expected more, then I told him how fast we were actually going and he couldn't believe it.

(Recently ordered my Raptor) This transmission issue that I've heard of a few times is much less desireable than I would like.
I would like fairly hard shifts, but maybe the truck weight would be too stressful on the drivetrain in such conditions.

Also, the fast advance to top gear, in my opinion, is not ideal for optimizing gas mileage in varying traffic speeds (need to operate on better portion of torque curve for mild acceleration).

Does the 5 Star tuner have parameters for adjusting transmission response?
