Very nice. Just looked them up. Padded. EZ in & out. Cell phone pocket. Looks like they thought of everything. I hit the first bump at TRR and that was it for my phone. Later couldn't find it and it didn't ring. Thought it might have fallen out somewhere when I got out along the way. Eventually found it wedged up under the passenger seat. Had bounced around so much it had shut off. Lesson learned. Who is doing your cage? Your thoughts on the bolt-in's that in the works? My wife hates the idea of carving up my interior so the real deal is a tough sell

One thing I really like about the Pro Armor is how the shoulder straps are sewn into the lap belt. Less hardware to deal with...

John Baker is caging the truck. By tomorrow, the main structure should be complete. This is how it sat last week:

I think the bolt in is a cool concept and will sell well but I just wanted to go 100% with it. Hear ya on the wife front but it's all about how you spin it... Tell her you just want her to be safe incase you blow it offroading and she's riding with you. I still tell my wife that and she still looks at me like I'm full of shit. :lol2:

Yeah, Tizz, my wife doesn't by the excuses. Once I get her a car though, no more excuses required, I'll have a green light to go nuts.

My wife has motion sickness so I don't even get to give her the opportunity! A few minutes into it and I have to get her out before she spews in the a/c vents. I guess on the bright side I get to go as fast as I like without getting elbowed haha!

Adios MF AIRaid:

Ask and ye shall receive. Contacted the original owner about the OEM air filter setup. Next thing ya know I'm installing it all back the way it was originally just like Trey said to do.

Feels really good to not worry about bouncing out of my filter. That is honestly the most ridiculous crap I've ever had to deal with offroad, and something that one should never have to even think about.

Offroad Exhaust Evolution:
(Measure Once ==> Cut Twice)

The day I bought it off the lot. In great shape... barely broken-in. Already seems so long ago

1) First Cut:
TUCKED SPLIT DUALS

Tips just slightly revealed under bumper. Loved the look but forgot the Raptor is meant to jump around smashing and shaking off any low hanging dead weight. Great for the street, bad for offroad - so really a design flaw on my part hindsight being 20:20 and all.

2) Second Cut
CHOPPED & DUMPED:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345367459.796651.jpg

No more worries about exhaust dragging under the truck after bouncing around offroad. Discovered the reason for dumping - mostly so don't superheat the axle grease and rear gear oil leading to failure (plus nothing good can come from all those corrosive hot exhaust gases blowing over that entire area). Getting an education here. For now have Original owner's Flowmaster Super 44. Was worried about drone, but is not bad at all. Just sounds hungry! No need to wake up the beast anymore... It's an insomniac now!

Offroad ventures were still breaking the weld of the hanger attached to the muffler, so had 2 heavy-duty flexible straps installed. Now just pound away. Exhaust problems solved.

Really not bad at all. I like it sounding beastly - which it definitely does under hard acceleration. At speed it is a bit louder than before, but well within the limits of what I can live with.

what about the limits of a nagging wife (mine)? will it bug the crap out of her?

My wife can get a good nag going at times... and it doesn't seem to bother her.
Overall she's been pretty cool about everything I've done so far... although someday she's going to find where I hid the credit card statements :O

And rebuild he did. John's truck looked like one bad machine when he showed up Saturday at little Sahara.

One of the first things he said to me was " we are not leaving here until we air it out" and he wasn't kidding! Air it out he did!

Go big or go home! Nice to meet you John. Looking forward to the next one!:)
