try it yourself... drive along, pretty much any speed, 30-60mph, coast and punch the gas to the floor, there is a noticeable delay before anything happens. not ideal in some driving situations. perhaps drive by wire is partially to blame and i should try putting the stock tune back in and see if that affects anything, but i doubt it will.

it is not making turbo boost off throttle (anti-lag, baja mode) and while backfiring thru the exhaust may keep the turbo rpm up, these units do not make instant boost.
I have to at least partially confirm.

I did what you suggested today - pavement, normal, sport & baja and manual shift. I know this is obvious, but, it’s a very rpm dependent feel.

From about 2800 rpms up, there is a 2 stage ‘push’ on my truck; stock tune. The boost is fed into the acceleration, it is not ‘instant’ as you said. I think this is throttle by wire honestly. I do have a pedal commander installed, however it’s not on for the last few months - I shut it off for service and haven’t gotten around to turning it back on.

Ambient temps ~42F, my locale is just under 500’ over sea level. Truck was fully warm.

Normal mode; shifted surprisingly well today.
Sport mode: Noticeably better. At 30 mph, the effect is pronounced, but again rpm dependent. Again, the same 2 stage push.
Manual: you can exacerbate the issue by flooring it in 7-10 at 40. boost will be slowly fed until you’re in the power band.
Baja: Part throttle boost is practically non existent, but, when you stab to 80% or greater throttle, you get BOOST.

The part where I disagree at least to a small degree: I feel the suspension load the rear instantly even while the boost is still being fed. The important thing for this truck is to keep the motor spinning over 2500 rpms or you won’t have good response (Duh). The front definitely lifts just a bit on throttle but I get your point about the tip in - it’s softer than a roots blower power band, but I don’t think it’s substantially worse than a n/a V8, in fact I’d bet it’s pretty close.

Has any supercharged gen1 beat a tuned gen 2 in a drap race? I respect the hell outta the gen1 but these 700 hp gen 1s don’t seem to actually do much. I would love to be proven wrong and im serious about that.

No way a 700hp g1 beats a TRX….why is that?

I think it has more to do with the trans, then the 6.2 isnt much of tuner engine and a sohc at that. If the 6.2 was in a mustang then it would be a different story. Look at the 5.0 now, slap a SC on it and its an "R"

Too bad the rumor the 6.8 OHV was goin in mustangs and raptors never panned out and they killed the SCAB.

It’s because those 700HP claims are grossly overrated. Factory HP is rated using the SAE net standard. The aftermarket companies can use any method they want to determine the HP rating, there are no standards.

the quickest gen1 i know of, was head to head with the quickest gen2 around here at the time..

gen1 was on pump gas with a whipple, long tubes and other things im sure..

gen2 had e85 tune and most of the bolt ons to run e85 and stock turbos, it also went thru a couple of short blocks. rod/main bearing failure.. some of it could probably be attributed to the driver... time on the rev limiter isnt good for anything... lol

i think the transmission a big factor, but more than that is the big weight difference..

most of the 700hp claims from companies are using wheel dynos and calculation to estimate crank hp but really could be more or less than the claims..

i bet that gen1 would stay with a trx, but the trx also benefits from more gears in the transmission..

regardless, its difficult to use more than 500hp off road but these were from a 40mph roll on pavement and whoever got the jump won every time

So, using a little math, that means we should be seeing another... 240 Raptor R’s with only +$15,000.00 - +$19,000.00 ADM
