I would like to do the same. It would be nice to be able to get the part number for the factory camera housing, seeing as that just snaps in. Adding an aftermarket camera to that housing should be simple.
I would like to get the lockpic to have the factory rear camera on demand. Now the hard part would be switching between the front and rear camera. Any thoughts or imput would be appreciated.
Lockpick does NOT allow you to view the FACTORY rear camera unless it is in reverse. In fact, I have an aftermarket rearview camera I had mounted in the same place as the factory camera so I could add a front camera, and in that scenario it doesnt work either. Only way you can do a rear camera in motion is to hook up an aftermarket camera to the 2nd camera input, but then you wont have it when you put your truck in reverse, you will have to manually turn it on through the nav control each time.
That said, I use the front camera while Im driving if I want to tailgate a Dodge going slow or run some old lady' groceries over, but that is about it.
Okay, seriously, the only time it is really handy is when you offroad going over a ledge or something where you need to see over your hood down to the ground. I would say parking, but I always back in. Rule #1 in parking lots. Always easier to back in parking than to back out into the street blindly.
