That is cool...I need one that too...I looked at WSI and Saints...they look really cool and I like the fact they can go in or out in 5 minutes...

I am interested in how your rack is going to come out...

WSI is designing one for me now. You might want to see it too.

No, tire must be securely mounted in the bed.

Crap then i wont be able to make it, no way im buying a chase rack and installing it for an event. Not enough time, and my money should be spent else where on the truck then a chase rack for one event. (just being honest)

Sorta bummed now, was looking forward to going.

if you only plan on going to this one event just strap it down in the back.

I plan on doing other events, but this is the first even i have seen that mandates a bed rack. Not exactly sure why they are taking this stance as rausch creek is anything but a 100mile trail out in the middle of a desert. Only thing i could think of to explain it would be faster tire changes while on the track. Which if memory serves me correctly the track isnt really a track, but more of a large open field with a track etched into it (not like a rally race, where you could be stuck on the side of a cliff with 2 feet of space), so folks can pull off to the side and take their time.

I am still curious as to hear why this mandate is in place.

Really what it comes down to is added expense to do it right (sorry latching down a tire in my bed doesnt sound like the brightest idea to me, when i know im going to want to push myself and my truck).

You ever use one? Does it require drilling of the bed?

I bent a rim there, it was muddy and cold. I had my tire under my truck. If it wasn't for Dave at KHC with a proper jack, batter impact wrench and a spare in his bed it would have taken at least 2 hours to change....I had your same feeling before I went...not anymore.
