Who has the chip on their shoulder? I've known Big J for a long time and he is by no means the person you are describing Matt. That Shock Shootout thread was done. Who wants to spend hours upon hours of their "free" time to put something like that together only to have a bunch of guys get upset because their shock of choice didn't win? You have all the ability in the world over at the other forum to do your own shootout and moderate threads the way you want...so go do it if it's that important to you. Again with the assumptions. The thread started to lose its way (IMHO) on 3/10. I closed it 3/12. I would hardly call that knee jerk.

Find one post where I scream "unfairness" or bias... I was actually slammed many times "over there" for doing the very thing you're unwilling to do, in order to keep a topic ON TRACK. That's what moderators are for... this isn't my first rodeo either, my friend.

Just so we're clear, we're not friends. In fact, from what I know of you I don't even like you and when it comes to subjects like moderator philosophy, I really have no interest in debating with you.

It's the internet... how long have you been doing this? I thought people had "tough skin"??

Well, to simply shutdown a thread in which MANY hours were invested seems really silly... if you actually cared about the issue at hand and wanted to see it's success, you would simply remove the off-topic posts, or move them to a "new" thread where the bickering could continue... Makes way more sense than just raising the white flag because of a little back and forth exchanges.

The cool thing about all this is I have no patent or monopoly on the idea. Take it, run with it, and make your own calls! I'll be right there watching with serious interest, looking forward to whatever you discover.

As for the rest... meh.

Like I said, take the ball and run with it. Heck, you can even copy/paste my text if you want. I'll be looking forward to your results.

im new to the suspension side of modding and just got offered ICON 3.0 coil overs for pretty cheap and if i buy them i will have those in the front and stock shocks in the rear. is this a bad set up?

Its not a bad setup, but definitely save up for the rears they do make a big difference.
Unless BigJ has a problem with that for some weird undisclosed reason.

Do you honestly believe that people would be angry that a certain shock performed a bit better that another? Cause we all know that if one outperformed another it would be only by a hair... Oh wait this is the internet huh... lol

Personally what Id like to see is each vendor list the 1,2,4 or 6 most important things that they would like to see done. Then pick the top 1 or 2 that each vendor thinks is the most important test(most likely they will list the same things) is and make a list and at each of these runs that we are having have each truck do these important things and rate them.
So maybe 10 trucks have fox 5 have icon and 2 have kings we can gather the rating and save them. There will be plenty of other events and compile them all after one year and then throw all the data out cause it dont really matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all that is a great deal on those shocks and you should get them. The rear suspension is the weak point on these trucks so if you run the Icons in the front it will way out perform the rear and you could get into trouble depending on the terrain. Save up and get the rears also and you will be very happy.

I was under the impression that the rear suspension is already crappier than the front from stock. I assume this would just amplify this issue?

We all know internet personalities and REAL LIFE personalities are far different... and I never said BigJ wasn't a nice guy in person, or that he hasn't been more than helpful. Just calling out his posts to Justvettn, which are completel undeserved. Part of me was irritated when he said my post was "ironic" when there was no irony involved.
