Yeah that's not true because some snap when removing them. I've read others have snapped possibly from left over rtv creating additional pressure in the bolt hole. I'm sure there are a number of explanations.
Never had one snap on 3 dana 44’s …

Does this diff cover also act as sorta a “skid plate”. Does it peal back on a trail like stock diff covers tend to?

The bolts snap before you strip the shit out of your housing. Absolutely no reason to obsess over this . Use new or old an tq them to 22 ftlbs with loctite. If yr good with rtv or have lube locker gasket it wont leak.

On some ford rear ends (only ones I have seen) there are a couple of bolt holes that go all the way through so that the end of the bolt is exposed to the elements on the back side (front of diff) this lets water/salt get in the hole and rust the hole and the bolt. This is in my experience why they break on removal.

Alright , takcled the job today. Took about 30min plus whatever it took to take the spare off and on.

At NO point did any of the bolts snap. And since the stock bolts are meant to be taken off and on to service the vehicle in stock form i just re-used them.

The stock gasket was rusted as was the mating surface so i wire wheeled it. I also used a surface shield marine type rust inhibitor on the mating surface and the entire diff cover because cast iron and salt are a baaaad combo. Lube locker gasket. Torqued bolts to 32ft lbs … At
No point was I afraid to snap anything. So like I said idk where that is coming from. I added a shot of the bolts that come with the kit… I don't really see anything wrong with them
Besides not having a provision to hang the brackets. Amsoil 75-90 3.5 qt went in… i suggest NOT getting the ford perf one. Its the same exact cover but with a ford logo that wont be visible in 5 years.
